I ordered my mustang back on July 21st. Today I had the dealer change some items on the car and now on cotus its showing that my order date is August 25th...

Is that going to hurt what order my car gets built in? It was originally ordered as retail.

My guess is that COTUS sees a new date, based on the option change and the new DORA (just a guess, since I think this application is a web front end that likely reads order database information; I haven't looked at the code).

On past Ford Mustang orders, I've changed items (color, option mix) after the VIN was assigned and before the car being "bucked" (body on assembly line). It did not result in a date change for production. There could be exceptions to that if some of the options chosen are on "commodity hold" (not available from the supplier).

So hopefully, changing it affects nothing other than the car I'm getting lol.

I think so :) Perhaps one of the forum members who work at a Ford dealership will correct me if I am wrong.

I called a week after I ordered mine to add ACC and then a day later I saw that ACC was added to the vehicle summary on COTUS, but the date that I ordered it (7/26/14) did not change.

I asked first, and he said it would not affect my place in line if a change was made. So I'm not sure why your date changed, and mine didn't.

I hope you weren't bumped!!!

Tony is correct. You can change the order up until the date of build without affecting the build date. However note that if there is a shortage of parts or materials (that are required for your vehicle) this can cause a delay. For example you change to Recaro seats and the factory is out this would cause delay.

The date change might be because I went from a base GT to a GT Premium?

Your place in line should stay the same however without being able to view your order in Vehicle Visibility I can not say for certain.

I changed my GT Premium to remove recaros and add PP and my order date didn't change (6/7/14)

I wouldn't stress but you made a great choice.
