I've noticed my rear quarter window (both sides) have a little play in the seal, almost enough of a gap I can stick a butter knife in (just for visualization, havn't done it lol).

Its as if the seal has lifted up. If I place my finger directly on it and push down, it travels a few millimeters. Is this normal? Can you guys take 2 seconds and go out to your cars and look at yours before I bring this into the dealership which I'd prefer to avoid at all costs:tsk:

Heres a pic, car is not mine.

I have the same issue , but on the passenger side , on top , where the seal meets the door window . Seems like it is unglued .
I'll take it up ,on warranty , at my next service appointment.

Common problem, after time they lift away slightly. Not sure if pressure washing causes the problem or if it actually leaks inside.

Happen to me on my car twice, one of each side. where the roof meets the seal. The seal began to tear and stick out towards the side of the car. The only way to properly fix the issue is to replace the quarter glass with new one, since the seal is part of the glass. i had both sides done under warranty repair.

Good luck

It's because the used cheapo rubber in the US and not the metal lined one like that is available in the UK. My driver's side is pretty bad.

Metal lined one? You mean the one with the chrome trim like the LE 50th?

Hows it holding up since they replaced the glass

Is it worth even taking in if its gonna happen again? I'd hate to replace rear quarter glass, then get re-tinted just to have same result.

Only thing that worries me is water getting trapped in there, thoughts there?

The rubber is not there to seal the water but more like to cover the gap.
The rubber can shrink over time to become lifted up.

The car looks like new since the glass was replaced. The only annoyance was that i had to spend an extra 25 bucks in getting them re-tinted. The problem with my 1/4 glass was that both side of the rubber had tears going down to the glass. where the door glass meets the quarter glass on top, that corner keep on sticking out because the w/s was torn. one can inspect the rubber by sightly moving the rubber away from the body, but don't pull too much. The rubber will mold back to its position with the heat from the sun

I agree, the water seal is much deeper in the assembly.. this one is probably more related to appearance and wind noise..... that gap won't hurt anything.

That's exactly the information I was looking for. Will let it ride since its hardly noticeable and I don't have to worry about water getting in behind the window. Thanks a lot guys!
