If you like it loud, all the time, you'll be happy. It is hard not to like it until you have it LOL.

I have the Ford Racing Sport catbacks and I love the tone. It is far from the obnoxious loud. I drive about 60-70 miles everyday and the tone is great and doesn't grow old.

Would like to revive this thread as I'm looking into an S-Type. Anyone have any issues with the rasp? Mostly everyone in my community has the MBRP or Solo since they hate the Rasp of the Borlas.

I have the s-type and H pipe. Sounds great and there is maybe a little rasp at WOT, but not much. I had the MBRP street and the rasp on that system sounds like shit. It's all rasp. I do want to hear solo street race in person. As I'm thinking of switching to that.

I wonder if i should get the Borla S-Type Axleback and get an H-Pipe.

Are your mid-pipes stock?

can't keep it quiet? what? it's a borla... = only loud when you make it loud. If it's loud on the interestate at 70mph, because you still got it in 5th at high rpms...lol put it in 6th where it should be and you'll barely hear it.
Sorry. It's the Borla. They don't drone but they are boomy. It's the best way to explain it. Too much sound in the cabin at cruise speed. And it's not a good sound just loud.
If you want the best is the Corsa Xtreme CB. No boom and no drone. Much quieter at cruise. But if you want to hear it just press the go pedal and wow.

BTW I have had multiple stangs and tried many exhausts. The current Corsa is the best. Far better then the version for the previous gen cars.

S type axlebacks and stock resonator... Perfect. I can cruise at 70 mph all day. Even that was loud for my 50 year old ears at first but I have grown accustomed and absolutely love it. I believe the FRPP mufflers are chambered, so they will sound different. My Borla S types are straight through. Straight through mufflers and an X pipe WOULD be loud. The factory resonator has a type of crossover built into it, so I don't care about hacking my exhaust up further. I would do either just mufflers or a catback kit, so that the components are tuned to each other. Anything else is a crapshoot.

Here is my S-Type w/ Stainless headers, no cats
Definitely has a little rasp. Sounds more exotic than the other setups and I love it!

Nice vid SkattrBrane

My setup is nearly identical to yours, except I have the hiflow cats. The cats don't make a huge difference in sound, as mine sounds the same. I love the sound.

Only thing I'm considering, is picking up the borla resonator for autox and track days to cut down on the noise a bit. For otherwise daily driving, I'll keep the xpipe on.

I'm really torn between the Ford Racing Sport vs Borla S. I don't want anything insanely loud but I love the tone of the Borla S. From what I've read the Borla S is supposed to be louder than the Ford Racing but from the videos it is difficult to tell. Anyone hear both live or drive with both?

Before I had my headers installed, I had listened to someone elses car with the frpp sport mufflers, and the volume was about the same with a slightly different tone.

Sound and loudness is subjective. I don't find the Borla sport systems to be too loud. Cold starts are loud, so that might be an issue if you're leaving for work early in the morning. But once the car is warmed up, it's quiet when you keep it below 2k rpm. It doesn't truly get loud until you force it to be loud.

I think i'll end up getting the Borla S-Types. I think the tone is just right for the S550. High (Rasp like) and Midtones would be good to have and not just deep and bass.
