Hello. I'm new to the forum and to the idea of purchasing my first Mustang GT. My wife and I are both recently retired. We owned a 2006 C-6 Corvette for a few years. We sold that car and are really liking the idea of a new Mustang. I have a couple of questions. The offer from the dealer is $3,500.00 off of the MSRP of $44,260.00. It has the performance package 1, auto transmission and base 300 package. The car is a 2020 model year. Would you consider this a good price or do you see pricing like this throughout the year? My second question is about the Active exhaust. The car I am looking at doesn't have this option. Can it be added at a reasonable price? If not I would guess that aftermarket might even be a better option than the Active exhaust. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure pricing is a tough call. I haven't followed it on the Mustang so unsure of different incentives during the year. When I purchased my F-150 the incentives were stronger at years end when the new model came out. The Mustang GT doesn't seem to have much of an incentive right now, more just a dealer discount. Might get better when the 2021 comes out but what will supply be like?

Does the standard exhaust sound more like the open valves on the active exhaust? Or is it about the same as the valve closed option.

Current incentives from Ford Co. can be found on the Ford website. That'll give you an idea how far below MSRP the dealer is going on his end. Then maybe a KBB pricing will give you an idea how good the dealer's offer is. But I have no clue how accurate KBB is .

A couple more comments. For what it's worth go to your dealer's website and look at his inventory of Mustangs. If he has a big inventory he may be motivated to get them off his lot.

I have a factory order in and I opted for active exhaust. Like others mentioned it's the Quiet Mode that's interesting. I want to keep my neighbors happy.

That sounds about right based on color and location, and PP1 is definitely the way to go.

Thanks for the reply's. The dealer has 2 GT'S on his lot along with a couple of eco boost cars. That might be why the discount isn't more. The standard exhaust sounds really good to me. Just thought it might be fun to have the active exhaust. The PP1 is over $5,000.00. Wondering if it is worth that price. Sure do like the Brembo brakes, wheels, suspension upgrades, bigger radiator and the rear spoiler but seems like a lot of money

The base info screen is a joke radio controls and back up camera way to small . I know i have one wanted simplest and regretted it . I think the 8" screen option 301 is $2k worth every penny

The more I think about the options, the more I like the 301 package for the reasons you mention. Also the upgraded radio. The performance package is a nice option but at over $5,000--not really sure it's worth it. At the beginning of the 2020 model year it was just shy of $4,000. Over a 30% markup on one option seems over the top. That's a lot of money for what you get.

Did you push your C6?

If you did and want to drive the mustang hard you will be disappointed . If you want a car that is comfortable and competent you will be happy.

It cost me 5000 bucks to make the mustang feel like the C6.

Good point. The C-6 was a fun ride. I did push that car at times--hard not to. At over $5,000 bucks, the performance pack is a hard pill to swallow. A 30% price increase in the same model year just seems ridiculous. If it adds that much to the ride quality, might be a really good choice.

It does help but if you push the car you will be calling Steeda or....

The main reason to start with a PP1 is a bigger radiator better software in the Traction control, a better differential, and better wheels and tires.

If I were to do it over I'd get a PP1.

I have grand kids so I need the supposed back seat or I'd still have the Vette. I can't afford both.

If you are open to looking around other states, and taking your time, you will find almost any option you want for a good price. I was able to find exactly what I wanted in North Carolina for $10k off MSRP. Did everything over the phone, just had to pay $500 for shipping.

It all depend what you want and how you use the car.
blanket statement like that make no sense
I specifically wanted a base gt with pp because I only track the car

I have looked around the country and found some really good deals. Does Ford offer different incentives in different regions? If so, i am being told that if out of state incentives are better, I won't qualify because they only give the incentive where you register the car. I would get the dealer discount. I live inn Colorado. I priced a dealer supercharged car at Long Mcarthur Ford in Salina, Kansas. They have a buy it now price of $51 k plus on Ebay. They told me the car would be priced over $54 k because I wouldn't get the same incentive they have--different regions.
