Pulled spark plugs

Pulled my spark plugs today at 15,400 miles on my 15 ecostang. All (4) spark plugs looked the same and their gap was .030". Here is a pic of one of the spark plugs, look normal? Either it looks normal or slightly fouled.

What color should you be seeing at the ground strap and ignition areas of the spark plugs ?

Slight carbon build up may mean spark was too cold or improper gap. Vacuum leaks could also contribute. More than likely the gap is too big. 26 to 28 is the sweet spot for this engine. Optimum color for electrode and ground strap should be slight brownish gray tone in color.

My car has the same mileage as yours. I pulled my plugs shortly after 500 miles after I purchased it to check the gap on the plugs set the gap to 26. Haven't seen them since. I will be changing the plugs in the next few days will be interesting to see a comparison to yours. What octane are you using and what brand?

Looks fouled to me. If normal, you'd see the insulator being a good bit lighter than that.


But yes, .30 is too much.

Pulled plugs Sunday. Stock for 15,000 miles gap at.026. Only used 93 octane Mobile,Valero, Shell a few times. Replaced with ITV22 Denso. Knock count on stock plugs 1-3 but not all the time. No knock on the Denso's gap set .026.
