2 weeks to book in, 3 trips to the dealership. Turns out all you have to do is twist it a little but the Mustang specialist will be too busy looking for your 4 other pots lmao. (because dealerships dont know the difference between 2.3 and v8 :lol.

At least your pony isn't haggard anymore, and it's just running into your car ;)

Hi all.

Been following (silently) since I ordered my GT in early March... so some time yet until my wet dream becomes a reality, but that's more time for Ford to fix all the problems that you guys seem to be having!

Perhaps guy@nemesis may have hit the nail on the head with this one in that it could be the heat from the bulb that's causing the problem.

As it's a projector lamp it needs to be fairly powerful to maintain a crisp image so it's likely a halogen or variant thereof (as there's not much evidence of Ford using LED on anything else as standard from the factory), and as these can burn at 2K+ degrees it's highly possible that the constant cold-hot-cold cycling of the bulb is causing the image mounted on the lens to deteriorate.

The reason for it being the drivers door more commonly is of course because it's the door that's used the most and is therefore the one cycling the puddle lamp the most (unless of course you all like taking the sat-nag / driving instructor out with you every time... which I highly doubt).

Regarding CaptainPug's picture above:

1). Your pony appears to have a spoiler,

2) It appears to be laying down skid marks (line-lock or diarrhoea).

Good to be here and hope I can add some more comments of value (or otherwise) while I sit and twiddle my fingers...

I wondered that when it was just mentioned, but since you get the double toot when the passenger door gets closed if the driver's door is still open I can well imagine both lights coming on regardless of which door is opened.

Both puddle lights do come on, I've not seen only 'one' just come on since ownership lol, which makes the mystery of why a certain side my eff up first.

FYI regarding if it's to do with opening and closing the wing mirrors, I've done this DAILY since picking the car up, (turn car on, open wing mirrors, get to parking, close wing mirrors, get back, open wing mirrors, get home, close again), no issues yet, touch wood.

Ah... well that puts my theory potentially out the window (not having my car yet I didn't know they both came on... so you'll have to forgive me for my error)!

So basically they're more likely just crap quality (anyone had one out to see if they say 'made in PRC' or 'Taiwan')?

Keen to see how you get on, and to see if yours is also wonky! Make sure you check and if it is, see what they will do about it. Shouldn't have to accept a fix that isn't 100%
