Was on the way home Monday in my Ecoboost, on a freeway on-ramp. I floored it and as soon as boost built the charge pipe popped off of the turbo.

I limped to a dealership where the tech there said that most Ecoboosts come with the clamps loose, but that Ford has issued a directive to tighten them before they go on the lot.

He stated that 4 clamps were loose and that he tightened them all.

Please take this under consideration.

They are notoriously bad for not being tight. I don't know what Ford is doing at the factory.

The three bottom most s-drive clamps on the intercooler piping. Mine were loose ish, and the bottom 2 were almost off by the time I checked them.

I checked and tightened all of the screw-type clamps on my EcoBoost. Three were only gently finger-tight. I mentioned this when I stopped at my dealer. The Sales Manager was listening. He popped the hood on a show room EB, pulled out a screw driver...and two of the clamps were really loose. He immediately walked over the DP department to tell them to check/tighten the clamps as the EBs come in. He came back and asked me how I knew about the clamps possibly not being tight. I suggested he join the Mustang6G Forum!

Good thing I checked.. Mine were loose and not even fully seated right at the turbo. It was barley hanging on...

I had nothing but issues with mine after I put a tune in my car. Definitely recommend tightening them before any mods!

Would you be able to take a picture of where exactly they're located? Noob car mechanic ftw [emoji58]

Bump, I'd like this too. The intercooler ones I saw when I checked under the hood were all very hard to reach.
