I'm thinking about ditching the extended Ford warranty. Bought a used CPO with 10k a miles in Dec with a 7yr/84k mile plan. It's been about 6 months since purchase and I'm now at 15k miles.

How exactly does this process work? Would I get a full refund or based on time/mileage since purchase date?

I cancelled the ESP on my prior car and the dealer offered me either a refund or a credit towards a new policy on the '18 R I just bought. I opted for the credit and have purchased the new plan by paying a few hundred dollars difference.

My old plan was in effect for just a few months, so I received all but $50 back.

You should be able to do this by calling the Ford customer support line listed on the ESP documents.

Still a bit confused. Using the below example how much would I get back?

Purchase miles 10k/Purchase date 12/1/17
Current miles 15k/Current date 5/17/18
Warranty additional 75k and 4 years/Total Warranty 85k/7 years/expires 3/4/23
Original sale of car 3/4/16
Warranty Price-2k
Cancellation fee-75.00

Yes it’s prorated off of time and miles, whichever you’ve used more of.

Looks like you’ve used about 1/15th of your miles and 1/8th of a time based on a 4 year period. You would get charged 1/8th of the purchase price and the cancellation fee, but you haven’t started the 4 year period technically because it’s still under the 3/36. There’s a fancy phone number on the warranty paperwork (or google) you can call and they should give the cancellation amount to you. But if you’re trying to decide whether or not to cancel by how much you’re getting back then you should just cancel either way.

Not keeping the car...going to move up to an R. Just trying to make sure the dealer doesn't try to pull a fast one.
