One of Sunday’s projects was installing a trickle charger port on the Mustang. It’s charging now. Woot! I also removed the sound tube. Who thought that thing was a good idea? There’s too much extraneous crap in the engine bay already. I had intended to remove the redundant carbon filter from the air intake, but it was already gone.

I just used the standard length pigtail for my trickle charger. I also have a 20 ft extension that goes between the pigtail and charger, so I can plug it in and just lay it down on top of the headlight and close the hood and it doesn't pinch the cord.

Which reminds me: if I follow through on replacing the battery terminal clamps (mine are OEM, as I see yours are), I am going to need to clamp extensions onto those battery leads. I might have a lug crimper around here somewhere.

My pigtail came with ring terminals on the battery end, I just used the existing 10mm bolt that tightens the battery clamp terminal and put the ring terminal there. You can also go to the main fuse/junction block for the positive feed if you want. It doesn't matter where you hook it up, as long as it has direct, unswitched contact with the positive terminal of the battery.

Yep, I used the main power tap on the fuseblock and the ground on the right shock tower. Works wonderfully.

That's what I did. The battery terminal clamps are a separate project.

Nice install in the grill. How did attach to the grill? Epoxy?

I want to modify that slightly. I'll update this once I am happy with it.

I wasn’t happy with how loose the trickle charger charging port was, so I reinstalled it using some JB Weld (epoxy putty). I also added some corrogated wire protector while I had the plastic trim off. I’m happy with it.


I also installed the mounting plate for my front license plate (my car didn't come with one). The adhesive tape needs to set for a couple of days before I can attach the plate to it.

The hood latch lever was a quick install. Using a heat gun to remove the stickers from my visors took a little longer, but it was easier than I expected.

I decided to kitbash a Pioneer TS-A250D4 10″ Dual 4 ohms Voice Coil Subwoofer into the factory subwoofer enclosure rather than spend $1200 on a JL Stealthbox. In retrospect, I’m not sure it was the best choice, but the hard part is done. Now I just have to install the amp (Kicker 46CXA400.1T) and the line output converter (AudioControl LC2i) and run the wiring.

It looks better in person.

Yeah, I put the pioneer in my 23 and my old half deaf ears can't tell the difference, too many years of listening to heavy metal and too many concerts.

My car came with the 9-speaker setup, but no subwoofer. I am hoping to hear the difference.

These ads are too much. I wish there was a way to become a supporting member and get rid of them, but if there is, I have not found it.

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, either the ads go or I do, and the ads aren't going.
