Yeah I don't think they end up being that different with the correct converter.
a close ratio th400 with a lock up converter is the way to go. When high load is required to create enough exhaust back pressure to spin a massive turbo, a power glide will shine.
But even the turbo guys who don’t need a lot of back pressure like twins, most of them go th400 also.

I was never into the drag game seriously enough to know. I do know the Alcohol funny cars used 2 speeds and the TF guys used slipper clutches. Slipper clutch is like a loose converter.

Most of the super gas and comp cars used 2 speeds.

Maybe things have changed.

Thanks for the info.

When you do take this thing to the track let us know a few days in advance. I might make the trip to see you run it.

also this is also just my opinion and not backed up.There are a lot of fast 2 speeds out there.

I can do that. If everything goes as planned. I hope to be at the track opening day to start my license process. If I can pass tech. 😂

little teaser of what’s to come. Decided to let her breathe some January air. She’s very cold natured but once she gets the fire started, she eats! Can’t wait to share.

And for those wondering, here’s the old jtb dyno information. As you can see, the hp curve was falling off where it should be shining. This was due to belt slip and blower efficiency range. These problem have been fixed. I’m currently working on having a converter built and tightening up all loose ends.

This 60-130 was with the old blower and still seeing belt slip. Short shifting the 2-3 at 7500.

Really can't wait to see what this thing can do with the grip tech pulleys and a little more boost. I've been talking to a couple people about a converter change. Currently, the TCT feels like it will do the job but i believe that i'm leaving some on the table. We will see. I need to finish up this 76 F150 before i do anything.

getting ready to swap back to a 3.73 gear and see how it reacts. I’m hoping it’s not too bad on the street and I can leave it. If not, I’ll build up my spare housing with another diff and slap the 3.31 in it so I can just swap 3rd members whenever I want to put it into show car mode.

took my neighbors truck (what’s been keeping me busy) to have a tune written so I’m thinking when the weather clears back up, I can move the mustang back into it’s home. (Sometime this week)

i swear I have some of the best friends who help me with whatever I ask.

to be done on the mustang:
1. Grip tech 3.0 blower pulley install
2. ARS tensioner install
3. Finish wiring N2mb to trans brake
4. Wire reverse lights/camera to trans brake
5. Electric vacuum pump for power brakes.
6. Re do throttle body charge pipe and add 2nd bov
7. Fix exhaust
8. New torque converter and trans refresh (after first pass)

okay back to work 👍🏼👍🏼
