Good luck with the rebuild - keep us posted!

I'd like to know your total "all in cost" including the purchase of the car from copart, the shipping overseas and the total cost of parts to getting it back on the road (if ya don't mind sharing).

No problem at all.

I bought it for 6500. With fees etc it was around 7500 dollars. Transport and shipping to my garage is 3500 euro’s. Including paperwork and customs.

ofc I Will have to pay 10 percent import fee. And over the 110 percent 21 percent tax. Which makes it 9982.50 (dollars and euro’s are worth almost the same atm)

Total 13.482,50.

Ofc excluding labour and replacement parts. Sadly there is much more to come. Like co2 tax (somewhere between 3 and 5k), tuv papers(around 1.5k) (Yes German papers for the Netherlands, without it is nearly impossible to get a license plate ). Adding a rear red fog light.

And ofc the final check by the dutch dmv.

I hope you didn't mind the question about costs. I was just really curious about the "all in" after it's repaired. You're still well under market value at this stage, which is great.

It's nice to see folks who have the ability to take a vehicle like that (and worse) and invest the time into brining back into the road.

Do you have to go through any type of visual or physical inspection of the vehicle by your local Town/Province DMV before it's deemed roadworthy?
Are S550 crash repair parts easily sourced there or do you also purchase the needed repair parts here in US at copart and have them shipped with the vehicle?

Thanks for the input, look forward to the repair and build!

I do not mind the question. It is a hobby, I do not make a living out of it, So no sensitive information here. ;)

They are worth around 34/35k here. (Ecoboost). 5.0 is worth around 40/45

When it arrives a report of its value Will be Made. I have to Hire a specialised company for this report. Based on thr value, the co2 tax Will be calculated.

There is a possibility of around 50/50 that the government does not trust the report and a secondary check Will be Made by a part of the dmv. The car does not have to be road legal at that time.

Afterwards when all is settled and repaired I have to go to another part of the dmv for a “roadworthy” check. Here the car Will be checked from top to bottom. Afterwards a license plate Will be issued. At least I hope So.

Parts for Repair are aquired largely through eBay and some specialised us car import companies here. Delivery of parts usually takes a few weeks.

There are some cool down periods between steps. Simply because I do not want to get summoned for the first check by the dmv when I am already repairing the car. (A summon arrives between 1 and 2 months after the value report is sent in).

I Will keep this forum posted on the project
