Hell of a auction. So refreshing to see these cars being driven and still commanding top dollar. That is the sign of a truely special car and one that is here to stay in the collector car world. Congrats man. I'm sure you're going to miss her!

For those who missed it, the final was $172,000 which is another new record for R's.

Am I the only one who remembers the GT owners who 5 years ago would post in the GT350 forum saying how they'd scoop up our cars once they dropped in value?
I'm happy for you guys but kinda bummed that GT350 prices are going so nuts, since I still want one. But it's going to be a while for my finances to catch up at this rate.

I suppose it's also kind of a bummer in a way to have such a fantastic driver's car in your garage, but being afraid to drive it because of how much it costs to replace now. I know I'd be in that boat if I did have one.

I don't let any of that stop me. Other than my base R, they have all been on the track. I admit, the base R is special and there is no reason for me to go out and whoop on a very rare example. I must say that if it was the only R I had, it would be a track car as well.

I canā€™t believe the value of the base model Rā€™s havenā€™t spiked. The HEP models definitely look cool, but the base Rā€™s have tangible differences that can never be replicated again in a new car.

You could say people haven't caught on yet to the Base Rs, but right now the 2nd gen seems to be more desirable...especially the 2020s.

I agree that the 2020 models are clearly more desirable right now. Here are some of the factors that I think are playing into it. (in no particular order)

1. 2020 R's received the steering upgrades from the GT500 which resulted in a higher MSRP. This makes the 2020 R's have something that no other years have.
2. Final model year... on a car that has a unique voodoo FPC engine and a manual gearbox. This combination is very likely never to be seen again.
3. Gen II motor. Seems to have less oil consumption issues than Gen 1's and could be viewed as a more reliable engine to some.
4. Cool features than the earlier models do not have... such as the carbon fiber dash, puddle lamps, ect.
5. 2020's have (EDIT) 5 colors that are one year colors only. Rapid Red, Lime, Iconic Silver, Twister Orange, and the HEP package with Wimbledon White. All 5 are going to be sought after colors for many collectors.

Here is the top 10 most expensive GT350R's sold at auction so far. (not including a 2015 R that sold at a BJ charity auction for 500k)

172k - 2020 R Heritage -- 3,600 miles (Yesterday lol)
171K - 2020 R Heritage -- 941 miles (March 2022)
165k - 2015 R Magnetic Grey w/black stripes R -- 855 miles (September 2020)
161K - 2020 R Heritage (November 2021)
148.5k - 2015 R White/Blue #37/37 -- 6,000 miles (July 2020)
147k - 2015 R Avalanche Grey w/black stripes -- 157 miles (June 2021)
143k - 2020 R White/Black VIN001 -- 1,648 miles (January 2021)
140.5k - 2020 R Heritage -- 1,300 miles (January 2022)
130k - 2018 R LFG w/black stripes -- 1,400 miles (March 2022)
115.5k - 2015 R Black w/black stripes -- 70 miles (January 2021)

4 of the top 10 are Heritage Editions. 4 are 2015 models. 1 is a LFG 2018, and 1 is a Vin 001 2020 car.

Also going through my records, I've noticed that 2016 and 2017 has yet to have a R hit over 100k. Here is some info for each model year.

2015 -- 4 cars sold at auction all over 100k. Highest is 165k.
2016 -- Only 1 car has made it past 90k and that was a Base R that sold for 93.5k.
2017 -- The most R's sold of any year at auction since 2020. Like 2016, only 1 car to surpass 90k with again a Base R selling for $94,450.
2018 -- If you can believe it, but before the LFG car that sold for 130k, the highest selling 2018 R was 82.5k back in May of 2021 (also a LFG car). Out of the six model years for the GT350R, the 2018s had been the lowest selling average (up until this last LFG car).
2019 -- 4 cars that have sold for 90k+ and 2 cars that have hit 100k.
2020 -- The 2nd most sold R of any year. 11 cars have sold for over 100k. The average price for a 2020 R at auction is $121,000.

I don't know what you can do with the information... but there it is.
