I've never been a big fan of pressure washers. People I know that have them always bitch about them being broken so they just sit.

However, I see a lot of people using them to wash their cars on youtube, and expensive cars at that which tells me they might not be a bad idea.

A few questions/concerns....

1. Anything to worry about with the pressured water blowing the dirt/grit across the surface of the car?

2. What should I look for in a decent pressure washer so it'll keep going for years?

3. I saw a vid where a guy was using a "GreenWorks $99 pressure washer" on his Porsche. Looked like a little compact unit that'd be easy to toss in the trunk and use at my station. Not sure if they are good quality at that cheap of a price point. Thoughts?

4. Any other suggestions pertaining to pressure washing the S550?

Thanks

The biggest thing to worry about is just being careful with pressure and distance. Don't use the most aggressive tip, keep a safe distance. They are perfectly safe to use and a foam cannon works wonders.

I use one from time to time. I think distance I the biggest thing. I've seen people put the pressure washers way too close. That's silly. I think three feet is the rule?

That, and if you get a pressure washer, opens up the opportunity of getting a foam cannon. I'd recommend it, personally.

Another +1 on the Sun Joe. You can get them online for about $125.

I don't daily drive my car and since buying the pressure washer I have never had to hand wash once. The pressure washer with a foam bath is all I ever need.

So no mitt/bucket/etc.?

I'm guessing just wet, foam, rinse and dry...with a power washer and maybe leaf blower?

What about applying a seal/wax/etc.?

Thanks

I have a sunjoe SPX3001, I use the foam cannon and it works pretty well! if you just have light dusting and such you can normally just power wash it down, foam it, and rinse and don't even need a wash mitt. I still do the tires and wheels with a brush and cleaner but I can normally go "touch less" on the body.

Put a good sealant/wax on there and the bugs and other road grime should come right off.

Sun Joe SPX3000 here, with Chemical Guys EQP_310 TORQ Foam Canon, Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo

Sun Jose comes with nozzles, I use 25° to get rid of bird droppings, etc, foam the car up with the cannon, use mitt, and then use 40° nozzle to spray off the soap/suds. Then hand dry her till she shines!

I wash the car every Sunday, since she sleeps outside :(
