Is the "Premium" Stereo (the 9 speaker unit) also made by Shaker? The reason I ask is the little panel in the center stack says Shaker on it... did the just put in the wrong filler panel?

Yes Shaker makes the 9 speaker system.

The 9 speaker unit is the "standard" Shaker system available in the premium models. The up-level "Shaker 1000" has 12 speakers and a sub.

Actually the new Shaker Pro is only 390 watts. So it's not even as powerful as the old 500.

390 watts? Where are you getting your information from?

According to the dealer source book, its is 550 Watts.

390 Watt is probably the RMS while 550 Watt is the peak. Wattage doesn't really matter so much if the speakers have a higher sensitivity/efficiency. Not going to win any bass competitions anytime soon with stock sub though.

I can tell you right now that isn't accurate. There is one 1", 3" and 5.25" in each door, each rated @ 25W. There is no 5.5x7.5" or 8" in each door. In the rear deck there are two 25W coax speakers. There are no 10" subs in the trunk either, there is one 8" with a tiny Pioneer amp mounted on the housing and that's it.

Peak power is meaningless. RMS power is what car audio guys look for when shopping for speakers, amps, etc.

Thank you, stoli. The first thing I'm thinking of doing is upgrading the factory stereo system with aftermarket speakers. This is helpful!
