Looking for a "daily driver". It will not be abused but I won't come apart at the seems if it gets a paint chip from a rock on the freeway. The car will have a life (for me) of about 3-4 yrs. So it will be kept up and then sold in due time thus I have NO interest in ripping apart the doors, replacing the stereo, speakers etc... Thus my question:

Is there ANY base with the base (GT but that doesn't matter) stereo speaker system?

My 2012 Boss 302 (as with all Bosses) had a "base" stereo that meant no door speakers and almost non-existent base. My 2015 LE is on over kill with the trunk sub-don't need that.

I can live without the other options of the prem package if the stereo at least has some level of base....minor issue for many but maybe it is just my hearing range. Don't need booming...but you get the idea.

Thanks everyone.

I'm more than happy with my premium sound system, what I really like about it is that it's not overkill like it usually is with the people that ride with their windows down and blast their music. (doesn't make everything rattle like crazy)

The Shaker system in the Premium does what you ask. It sounds nice at modest volume levels and doesn't shake the screws loose with bass. Can't speak for the bass in the "base" GT, but I imagine it will be fine given your modest expectations. No base stereo is an audiophile's delight.

The bass is absolutely nonexistent in the base model. I spent $300 and installed a subwoofer a couple weeks after I got it. The premium option is overpriced IMO. But if you aren't willing to install an aftermarket sub yourself, which is totally understandable, then I highly recommend the premium option.

I have the Base model. Head Unit has all the features you could ever want without the pain of the touchscreen with delays and numerous menus. I much prefer the buttons. Easier and quicker for me. The sound quality is fine for mids and highs, but there is hardly any Bass. I was not willing to pay another $5k+ for Bass sound. I will spend $400 on a simple aftermarket subwoofer and get the best of everything I wanted without the stuff I DONT WANT in the upgraded stereo system.

I've been very happy with the Shaker Pro/Premium. No complaints...but I'm older.

I too have been very happy with the Premium 401A package in terms of sound. It took me a bit with the equalizer to get it sounding exactly right but now I'm thrilled. The "driver only" mode is where it's at!

I have the base system and it sounds pretty decent. I added a 10in self powered Rockford Fosgate sub and it sounds way better! Got it on Amazon for cheap and was an easy install.Best option if you want to keep stock speakers.
