2016 GT Premium aftermarket stereo???

Picked up a 2016 Procharged S550 GT premium with the Performance pack yesterday, and ive been searching for a few days now on whether or not I would be able to install my Kenwood Excelon aftermarket stereo head unit into the new whip... I don't know much about the S550 platform yet, I'm starting to learn that its a pain in the ass to do any stereo upgrades into these things.... has anyone put an aftermarket head unit into an S550? what complications did you come across? and what kits did you purchase for the install? do I need to purchase a new $465 faceplate? or can I get away with the $12.50 install kit?

The 99-5838 will be for the 4.2 inch screens,
Since you’ve got the 8inch screen, the 99-5840 will be more suited to your needs. That’s $12.50 isn’t going to get you very far unfortunately. I’ve got a 16 Cali special with the 8inch and have opted not to go with an aftermarket unit. I don’t want to downsize my screen the factory look is much better than that dash kit. (I do this stuff for a living) and those calculator style buttons will get on your nerves if you’re anything like me.

Get a Rockford Fosgate DSR1 and get an amplifier to run everything.

Also the “amp” in our car cannot be bypassed with the factory head unit still in it must be integrated.

DSR1 offers an application to where you can set true crossovers and time alignment to get the sound you’re looking for
