Interesting they don’t have the wheel specs correct on the PP2 in the CJ article. It shows 19x9.5 (f) and 19x10 (r). They are actually 19x10.5 (f) and 19x11 (r).
I have a question about PP2 factory tire sizes with regards to the VCL on the driver side B-pillar. Since the PP2 had offset F and R rims, were the tire sizes really the same size on the F and R?? Every PP2 VCL I’ve seen in online images shows:
F: 305/30/R19
R: 305/30/R19

I would have thought with the offset rims, the tire sizes would be different?

Mine came with 305/30/19 and that is what I replaced them with.

305-30-19 all the way around.

It’s interesting - and my ask was because on other Mustangs with a factory staggered setup, the tire sizes were also staggered and documented as such on the VCL…

Was this so that the PP2 had an equal tire footprint at all 4 corners for handling instead of a staggered tire footprint?

I don't know why they did it, but it is my recollection that the front fender wells of the PP2 are larger than the standard GT PP. It's also my understanding that they were using as many GT 350 suspension parts as they could. This probably included wheels and tires.

I understand the dilemma. I was thinking about getting a square wheel and tire setup for all season driving and the ability to rotate tires. I finally gave up.

@Cobra Jet yes, same tires but the front wheels are 10.5s vs 11s in the rear, if that matters, along with the different offset. I just know the Ford skunk works team was trying to max out the 5.0 GT as much as they could without problems. They did a great job. I had 2 of these. Super grippy.

Thanks for the confirmation and input Tony. Even though the PP2 factory rims are staggered, I thought the VCL was a typo with the listed tire sizes. Usually I’ve seen VCL’s show the appropriate staggered tire associated to its staggered rim (F or R). Seeing the same size tires listed for F and R, even with factory staggered rims seemed odd to me.

I’ve owned several factory staggered setup performance cars in the past including BMW’s M, and always saw a staggered tire listed to its respective staggered rim on the VCL.

Learned something new w/ the PP2!

Was the PP2 “over the top” racing stripe option actually a vinyl stripe or a painted stripe?

There was no over the top stripe on the PP2 that I know of esp a painted option.

I took it as Cobra Jet was asking if the stripe option from the factory was vinyl or paint, didn’t think it had anything to do with the one with the aftermarket stripe, maybe I misunderstood. This car has the factory stripe option:

Could get these same stripes on a PP2.

Doug
I d have to see it on a Window Sticker from the factory before I d say that PP2 could get the stripe. Just assuming from what I ve seen. You could very well be correct. If I was buying a totally stock PP2 on purpose it would be a "show me" moment, LOL.

edit /. guess I m saying that when you add some packages it eliminates certain option, again guessing cause I ve never seen one. Heck I live and go to Ponies in the Smokies, one of the largest Mustang meets and I can t even find another PP2 to chat with, LOL..
