I would have been all over the PP option had it been available for the convertibles... :(

Wait the PP doesn't have more HP than the non PP? Everything that the PP has (except maybe the gauges and spoiler delete) can be done to the Base GT from what I've been told. Only down side it'll cost a bit more.

I'm yet to drive a PP. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to. But I'm debating if I should trade up or maybe take it to Shelby of America once I've paid it off and have some cash saved up to do a Shelby conversion lol (probably not...most likely not but it would be nice)

Same horsepower. The PP is for turning and stopping better, not necessarily better straight line performance. The 3.73's should help dig out of sharp turns better.

Will cost a lot more. Why not just buy the PP? The stiffness of the PP, the brakes, the bigger radiator, and the torsen rear end alone are worth way more than $2500. Not including all the other parts you get with it.

PP is a great package, no doubt! In my case, the dealers in my area that had the PP base GT's were low balling me on my trade making the total cost much higher than the package itself. The dealer with the non PP GT gave me way more for my trade ($5k more)...
I'm also not a fan of 3.73's personally.

I've driven both GT with and without PP. At the end of the day (and seeing as this is going to be my daily driver when I'm not in my company car) I loved the PPs capabilities but I hated the 3.73 gears and how much stiffer the ride was just for daily driving. I'm not going to be taking my car to the track and I wanted something that was fun to drive on the weekends but not wear me (or my wife when she rides in the car) out during a weekend trip somewhere. No knock to the PP or bust guys but some people want a bit more mix between performance and comfort that a non-PP GT offers.

The 3.73 gears are the only thing I don't like about my car. I'd prefer 3.31 myself. I may have them changed if I decide to tune the car.

To me this is the only major drawback of the PP. I absolutely hate those gears as well. They need to give us the option of having 3.55s with the PP.

if i was in your situation, i wouldn't even consider trading it for a PP considering how much you'd lose in terms of the depreciation/trade.

even though the PP is a steal in terms of cost vs what you get, the base GT is still a great car. i would just keep it for 5 years and trade it for a GT350/GT500 or GTPP after

I don't feel that the PP car rides all that bad. It is much more comfortable than my Mazdaspeed 3, WRX, and 240z.

Coming from them, the 3.73 gears really aren't that bad either. However, I would prefer to have longer gearing. 3.55's probably would've been a better choice for daily driving.

Either way, I am never going to fully utilize the capabilities of the car.

I think most will agree 3.55's are the optimal gear for the MT82 gearing. Unless going F/I, the 3.31's aren't enough gear. My friends GT with 3.31's felt neutered to me. He actually traded his in already for a another 15' GT premium 6M with 3.55's after driving mine lol.

He also actually got $30.5K for his trade which was $1000 more than what he originally bought it for.:eyebulge:

Aside from the PITA granny gear, the .373's pull harder when buzzing around, that's what I like about them. I've learned to throw it in second quicker after getting it rolling. You can also just start in second gear as long as you're not on an incline. It'll wear your clutch a little more but you're also shifting less so it's a wash.
