This is a good question. I'm not sure.
I thought their rep previously posted here that they are the same pad, just with different shims on the backing plate, stainless on the Z26.

I didnt bed mine, did you put the grease on the back of the pads? I just did my normal driving which is not normal driving braked down from like 150 a few times how I usually do. All good and no noise.
Yup followed the directions to a T, and then took the car on a 400 mi round trip. I came home put napa gold on the front left the z26 on the back, and ordered OE all around.

The rears (havent done the job yet, im dinged up) and I actually have driveline noise coming through the cabin, sounds like a pinion bearing (still could be) but the noise didnt start until the very day I did the brake job.

You did something wrong, the Z26's are very quiet pads.

That said they suck cold, are grabby when wet and cold, have no initial bite cold. They are very quiet, only got some squeel in reverse when wet and below 40 degrees F. This happened maybe 3 times and only once each time.

They don't show dust, so I keep them for street duty.

I haven't put the heat gun to them but my guess is they start working about 100 degrees F.

After the good results running the Z26 pads on my 18, PP1 GT and my son’s 08 GT… I have installed their truck/suv equivalent, Z36 pads, on my wife’s 07 FJ Cruiser and my 06 Tundra. Great pads! Good bite, quiet, no dust and great price off Amazon!

My only explanation would be when I pulled the rears apart, there were no seperation springs in the rear

Those are anti rattle springs. Yes it will make noise without them, unless you use a bunch of anti rattle grease.
