I really enjoy mine. No knock issues at all. Running 92 in the Pacific Northwest.

Calling all PP3 owners. What has been your experience.

Did you dyno your car and see the gains advertised by Ford?
Did it disable your knock sensors and cause pinging?
How is the drivability?
Why did you choose to install the PP3 ?
Seems like there is very little pp3 feedback from owners. I'm personally very interested in pp3. Did not want to create another thread sonce this one exists and not much info jere anyways...

Can actual pp3 owners provide their reviews here? How much you paid for the install, what are your ownership impressions?

Sorry to revive a thread from almost 3 years ago, but this has good info and feedback on it so I'd like to get some follow up on anyone who commented or anyone who has done the PP3 since then. This is the only power mod I want to do and am very eager to hear more about long term reliability.

Anybody want to chime in?

LOVE my PP3 car. I think my lightweight P51 wheels allow it to spool up faster. Also swapped the stock 350 paper element for the FP/Airaid unit--definitely breaths & revs freer. Opened additional holes in the grill...and w/the L side heat extractor being right atop the airbox, revs and IATs are improved. Also: higher octane def helps.
And all of this says nothing about the character and sound of the car. Transformed. Sinister. I constantly get comments on how my car sounds different than any other Mustang. Which is cool (to me) considering how many Mustangs are out there.
As for torque deficits, I just leave it in the lower gear a little longer. Way more power than PP2 (read the IQ article) and killer sound.
Pretty sure all the PPs have no lift shift. And this is also (imo) a killer thing to have on a 6sp, shifting at 7500. Exhilarating.

Oh, another thing I really love about PP3 is it's drivability. Car kind of has a Dr. Jeckle / Mr. Hyde personality. Driving around town it's relatively docile, as you please. And it can even get pretty good gas mileage.
But when you wanna have fun, It'l ight your pants on fire and take your breath away.
Per FP, it provides 70hp over stk, at 7500. That's 435+70= 505. Not including bolt-ons [catback, headers, etc).

Motoiq dynoed all 3 and if I remember right the difference between the pp2 and 3 during lower rpm pulls was negligible. Adding the I take upped the power at higher rpm but if your just street driving and want the lower rpm torque increase which is pretty good stick with the pp2.

Ya you gotta really ring out the high rpms to take advantage of the pp3 otherwise the pp2 has more power throughout the band below that. If available in the area tuning for e85 is a far better bang for the buck though the problem is its just not available everywhere.

2016 mustang GT performance package with PP3. I made this account just because I feel like the response from owners with the stage three has been sparse. The biggest changes to keep in mind is that with this tune you’re running your RPMs up to 7500 before you shift. This means two things. that when you drop into your next gear you’re dropping into gear at a different RPM than you normally would with the pp2. Secondly, you are hitting max hp at 6500rpm and holding it for 1000 rpm.

what does this mean for the real world? Well higher RPMs your car dies sooner. I have real concerns about the longevity of my engine running that high of RPM. With the pp2 you wouldn’t have the same concerns. On the fun side it means you’re doing 105 to 110 in third gear while listening to the engine rev to the moon. I have 80,000 miles on my car and I’ve never experienced pinging or transmission lock out or anything else negative due to the tune. Except maybe being out a bit more for the 93 fuel.

if you want to burn rubber and stomp trucks and vtecs buy the pp2… if you want Ferrari owners to cry then pp3 is for you. (Note there is no overcoming coefficient of drag and the fastbacks is terrible. Above 140 you really feel it and that’s when the Ferrari drivers start to see the results of engineering over aesthetics…)

I hope this helps!

I have the full pp3 and its a substantial difference in power, IF you run the car as intended. I daily mine, and most of the time its just ok. If Im on the highway rolling around 60 down to 3rd or so, not much is sticking with me (NA) HOWEVER, I have LTH's and Im tuned. The factory tune IS EXCELLENT, I went with LTH'S because i bought my car with test pipes, and hated the racket.

I also went with the pp3 setup and LTH'S because I will go centri blower in the near future, which is where ALL substantial gains will be found.

Coyote is an AWESOME engine however, it is a high revving v8 and not an LS. The lack in displacement and the way the power works on a coyote NA, isnt much to talk about/feel on a day to day. The meat and potatoes (IMO) is the potential when FI.

Last point: My car being a pp1 6spd, what those dynos from motoIQ do not tell you is the speed in which you get into the power. The speed in which the engine can consumer air, is lost with a dyno. On the surface you'd think you could track that but you cant quantify it on a typical roller. The "snappiness" is another metric. The reason the m1 and the bullet got this setup it feels faster and reacts quicker... JMO
