Hey all,

Recently got my car aligned after installing the suspension pieces in my signature. Did the alignment with stock PP wheels/tires. Didn't get the printout but wrote down the final settings:

FR
Camber - -1.9
Toe - .02
FL
Camber -1.7
Toe - .01
RR
Camber - -2.0
Toe - -.01
RL
Camber - -1.9
Toe- -.02

It handled well and was pretty predictable with the stock wheels. Once I put on the 19x10/11 setup with 285 and 305 it seemed to change the feel. Biggest thing I noticed is if your in a sweeping turn (like an on ramp) when you apply the throttle to exit the turn or even accelerate mid turn the rear wants to pull in the direction of the turn. On the stock wheels you could feel it but it was predictable and actually felt good as if the car was biting. With the wider rear wheels it seems to be almost to twitchy and sudden. This is only part throttle stuff too as it feels like full throttle would completely bring the car around.

Any ideas? Should I get it realigned?

Thanks

Jay

One idea I have is that you should have toe in on the rear. The rear toes out under load so you should run significant toe in to combat that. 0.1-0.15 per side.

Yeah, you really don't want toe out (negative) in the rear. It causes the tire which is loaded up (on the outside) to pull farther out. Spin city.

Alignment shouldn't change much due to different wheels or tires tho.

What brand of tires did you change to?

Went from stock Pzero to 555G2. Would the different widths and offset just make it more pronounced with the wider tires as opposed to the stock ones? I think I understand what your saying and it does describe what I feel. If I go into a right hand turn, front feels planted and responsive but as soon as I start to get in the throttle you can feel the rear want to pull to the left.

Is the toe something I can do myself to toe in in the rear some?

Bear with me on my vague descriptions. I am pretty good at wrenching but suspension stuff is not my strong point.

Bigger tires on a staggered fit feel different. When I swap from my stockers to my 10/11 set its a massive difference in how the car responds to the road. It usually feels a lot more twitchy. I do not get the feeling it is trying to rotate on me. You could try having the toe adjusted in a little, how many miles do you have on the new setup?

UPDATE

Finally got back on an alignment rack this morning. Took it to Ford which has a brand new machine and the tech was pretty knowledgeable. The front read about the same as before. I didn't have any complaints with it and no camber bolts/plates so we left it alone. The rear however was reading way off from the original. It was showing -2.9 for camber and toe out was even more than before. Mind you this is with my wider wheels compared to the stock wheels the first time, so not sure if that was an affect or if the original tech didn't get the camber adjustment tight. Anyhow he adjusted it to -1.8 both sides with toe in .1 per side. Car feels much better and way more predictable now. Not planning on anymore suspension stuff this year, but likely get some shocks and struts around black Friday and do plates at the same time.

Glad to hear it worked-out for you. 0.1 toe-in really is the magic number, even for the front wheels too imo.
