I can't find much info at all on the forum on porting heads with a NA build. I dropped my car off this morning at Finishline Performance for a NA build including comp stage 3 cams, cobra jet,and a bunch of other parts. I got to thinking on my ride home if porting heads would be a good thing to go ahead and do now or if that may be something for the future. Depending on the overall cost and turnaround time it may be something for later on down the road. I'm wondering if anybody's ported their stock heads or what kind of money I'm looking at. All input is greatly appreciated!

Someone used to do ported heads on here but some shady group cams buy offer pissed a buncha people/vendors off and shut him down and he left the community.

Ported head info is about as easy to get as it is getting vendors to release their "custom grind" cam specs.

:frusty:

Good luck

Yes, but on the 1st page the 5th or 6th post down on his 500 hp thread,, a forum member put a plug in there for head work. Said "send me those heads I'm ready to get started on them" but I couldn't find any info on that cat

I contacted him and sent him a link to this thread.

I wouldn't trust anything except a CNC machine for consistency, accuracy, and way less time consuming. These aren't 1973 302 heads here.

I'd have to agree with you wildhorse. Anybody can pull a head and throw a 60 grit sanding pad in a dye grinder and give it hell!

CNC porting? its decent but not a chance in hell its as good as a hand job........

Dude the OP is getting in contact with did flow bench #s and CC'd them to make sure they were equal and done right not some hackjob mess.

The numbers are on this site somewhere for the heads he ported on his own vehicle and some that were done for boostworks too.

Please dont make me dig for them LOL.

Hand ported > CNC all day you are out of your mind if you think its the other way just sayin........

As for the "these arent some 1973 302 heads" EXACTLY thats why a CNC job isnt going to be as good as a hand job. these heads are far more complex vs some old school pushrod heads.

I would send them to AFR (air flow reasearch) in socal...they are notorious for producing some badass ported factory heads that flow extremely well
