Hmmm...

if the puddle light intensity could be brighter - you could modify the roof antenna and place one inside of it - so that at night time, you could project a Pony into the sky like an f'n Bat signal!

why not just take off your hood insulation and see the real deal! An embossed pony!
There is a pony under that insulation?

It almost looks to me like that insulation is just added weight... I highly doubt its going to do anything in the event of a fire, the hood is already metal after all, and since metal doesn't burn...

Can anyone give me any really good reasons to leave it on? I'd think it's mainly there for sound deadening.

It's not there to protect the hood as much as it's there to help extinguish any small fires that may begin in the engine compartment. Once a fire begins, that pad will come apart and drop down on the engine to help extinguish it.

Makes for a nasty mess but certainly better than seeing your ride up in flames...

I ended up removing the insulation and using an air brush to paint the pony white. It really contrasts well with the Blue.
As an added benefit it has helped lower the under hood temperatures, probably by allowing more air flow through the hood vents.

Wow. Never knew the insulation was for fire retardant. Always thought it was to protect the hood paint from engine bay heat.
