I just found out that Ford has dropped a lot of options that were available through the MyTouch Navigation software in the new A6 SD chip!

I did a long trip this weekend which included a lot of lakes (Minnesota)...the lakes all displayed as only a single blue dot with the lake name! Streams were drawn correctly.

I called my dealership and they went out to several new vehicles that had the A6 chip installed. THEY ALL HAD ALL BODIES OF WATER MISSING!!! Just each represented as a single blue dot with a name label. My salesperson switched the A6 chip with a A5 chip on the same Mustang in the showroom.
All of the local lakes immediately were correctly displayed as bodies of water not just a blue dot! So if you want to see shorelines, bays, lakes, etc. displayed on your navigation screens...DON'T USE THE A6 SD CHIP!

In addition, other options are also no longer available. Auto-zoom automatically zooms into a destination-designated intersection turn, to give
you a better view of the turn. It also is no longer available as an on-off option!

The older system also allowed you to call up an OBD screen. OBD is the digital output interface that allows you to pull digital data from the computer chips, such as coolant/transmission temps, mph, rpm, and instant mpg.
That optional view is also now no longer available.

So I am going to buy a 2014 A5 chip from EBay as soon as I can. I would rather have the missing options than know that a county road has changed its course 200 miles away from here!

Update: I was told by Ford (Sync) that they know nothing about why Nokia/HERE did not include water bodies in the new A6, but that water bodies seem not to be included. I was also told to contact Nokia/HERE to inquire about this situation. But HERE has pages of publicity but not one location for people to ask questions (no contact pages at all).

Very interesting on the A6 chip, that seems annoying.

However, do you have links regarding the OBD stuff? My Google-fu has failed me on this one. I certainly don't have a screen I can pull up that has that information.

I found a Youtube video showing the "new" 2014 A5 chip used in the MFT screen. The narrator showed how to access an OBD screen using the navigation page. But when I tried it on my 2015...the optional buttons were not even shown, bummer.

Do you have an Internet contact address, such as a customer service email contact?
Nokia itself states that it will NOT communicate via email!

This is rather disappointing that Ford would make the consumer contact the company about an issue. I'm assuming this update is the only option for updating the navigation because of decisions Ford made on who supplies the maps for our cars. Seems like Ford is diverting.

Factory-installed navigation systems are more complex than handheld devices and smartphones. There are over 600K miles of road changes and over 500K Points of Interest added/updated. While not required, a map update ensures your navigation system's functionality is maximized.

I have 'large' screen add-on GPS units in my other vehicles. They both came with 'free life-time' data updates. As of June, 2015...those other units have more than 4 million POIs listed. AND they both display lakes clearly along with other map features. Ford wants about $150/yr for updates...and it seems that Ford/HERE prefers to remove map data from their updates (e.g. no lakes in the A6 SD). Too bad Ford decided to contract with a company that may not last much longer (Nokia/HERE) and that is wildly over-priced.

I have had the last 4 chips in my 3 SYNC Nav cars. A3,4,5,6

I notice no difference at all. Sans new roads being added.

Update: Some of the earliest A6 chips shipped out had the 'no lake display glitch'. My A6 SD and half a dozen at my dealership all had the 'missing lakes'. Ford determined that the chips shipped to my dealer were some of the earliest sent out. Ford My-Touch thought that perhaps HERE had added so many new road updates that they ran out of room on the early A6s. Ford had never had a complaint such as mine, before. I checked with my dealer a few days ago. Of the newer A6 chips sent to them, none had the 'missing lakes' glitch.
The dealership was willing to trade my A6 for one of the newer ones. By the way, I picked up a 2014 A5 SD and it displayed lakes without a problem.
