For those of us who are just waiting on a truck to deliver our long awaited S550's, what are your plans for Day One? My boss has already agreed to let me off for the day, so assuming all goes well and I'm off the lot at a reasonable hour, here's what I have planned:

Having grown up in these mountains I've purposely avoided Tail of the Dragon until I had a car worthy of taking up there. I'll be anxious to grab some chow, down some energy drinks and just drive for over six hours straight and then celebrate with a beer at work!

Are you guys looking at anything like this? Or an afternoon of detailing and oogling instead?

I'm hoping to snag an ecoboost w/ PP & Recaros around the end of the year. It probably won't be day 1 but when I get it a buddy of mine and I are planning to take the 2015 and my '01 Cobra w/ irs suspension work up to the "three sisters" close to Austin and compare the cars.

As soon as I get a delivery date I'm flying back to Michigan leaving the the dealer driving right to the drag strip to see what she will do it will be on go-pro.
After that it's a road trip back to Colorado where I'm working now. She Will probably be topped out in Nebraska:thumbsup:

I'm planing on taking the wife to the Oregon Coast for the weekend. It may not be the first day, but it'll be shortly after taking delivery.

If we get our cars around the same time, I'll drive up from Charleston and join ya. Actually if you're interested why don't we set up a delivery meet for Southeastern members. Looks like a fun ride. Haven't done the Tail yet. Wanted to on the bike, but never got around to towing it up there as I don't trust it not to get stolen if I ride it up.

I don't have any plans for a "first drive" as of yet, mainly because I try to avoid a lot of highway driving during break-in. I try to follow the manual as best as I can, and one of the stipulations is to not keep the car at a constant RPM for a long period of time, so I usually shift gears every minute or so on the highway to vary the revs. A bit annoying.

What I am planning on doing though is taking delivery on a Friday morning (booking the day off work), and spending a good 5+ hours detailing the car before it even sees more than 20kms. I'm going to tell the dealer they can take off the plastic wrap and stuff, but I don't want their techs to wash/detail the car. I will take it as-is and make sure I do a proper job myself. Probably debadging, 2 bucket wash method, clay bar if necessary, and a good 3 coats of Zaino Z2 :) It'll be a good day! I'll be driving up to work Monday morning with the shinest, most beautiful and fastest car in the parking lot.

I think it's a great idea! I'll be hitting this route day of delivery if time allows. I certainly wouldn't mind doing it again with others! We'll just have to keep tabs on each other as time gets closer and once we all take delivery schedule a weekend to hit the road together. :headbang:

bing...maps....
Yeah, it works well. Loyalty to software is idiotic.
I work for a MS partner and their apps pop up automatically. Why would I go through the effort to use something else? The roads are in the same place.
