Good morning everyone,
I have been having a bit of an issue with some of the safety features with my car... I am writing today because of what just happened going to work today along with a few other stories.
Today it starting to snow on my way to work and I get an alert saying to "front camera low visibility clean screen" and I'm like, my windshield is clean and visibility isn't awful, why is this alert happening? Then after clicking the okay button it comes up two more times and mentions something about the pre collision alert system. Having the warning chimes go off while driving does indeed get your attention. But if you are like me and actually paying attention to the road, the chimes only distract you.
The first time it ever went off (after I had just bought the car) was on the highway and where I was catching a car and the system goes off and auto brakes for me which was absolutely terrifying, I DO NOT LIKE the car to be out of my control, I was freaking out. Other times I will be driving through my neighborhood and the pre collision alert system will go off - scaring me half to death again, and again, and again - alerting me to stationary parked cars on the road and relaying absolutely nothing of importance to me.
Long story short the "pre collision alert" system goes off fairly often despite it being on the lowest sensitivity setting. I had also disabled the automatic braking - but that sometimes turns its self back on for reasons unclear to me.
So my question is this: Is there any way to disable these systems outright? Pull a fuse? Forscan?
How do you feel about these safety systems? Do they make you feel safer? Or are they annoying?
