Hi All,

I am in a major dilemma as what I should do to my Stang in the Indiana winter months. I know the Performance Package sizes are 255/40/19 and 275/40/19. I just can't seem to find a decent winter tire other than blizzaks, which costs a lot. My question is, is anyone running other tire size on the stock performance package wheels? If so, what is your setting and tires? I could get used set of Pirelli winter tires for $600 bucks used for 8/32 thread left, but the reviews weren't that good. Any suggestions? Sorry I searched on the forum but could not find one...

Thanks!

better off getting a cheap set off tire rack with rims like 18x8 rims with 235/50 tires. 18 inch are cheaper . can just get cheapy rims cause there only winters

I run 265/40/19 and 285/40/19 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 in the winter. Last winter they were excellent, however they are a little more expensive

I assume he has PP with Brembo

I vote buy new Blizzaks or equiv. Although I am not an expert on the weather north of the mason dixon.

Correct. Well, I might just get the Continental DWS. Just don't do the driving when snow is expected... it's such as PITA to change tires twice a year...

Blizzak states that all four tires, not just rear, need to be winter/snow tires. Is this correct?

I was always told you need narrow winter tires, but you had no problems with the wide tire in the snow/slush?

i ran 235/50R18 michelin X-ice last snow season, with a good common sense, should get u where u need to be. narrower is better for deep snow.

I would get a set of narrower 19 in wheels and run a square setup for the winter. You need 19 in wheels but not as wide so it will save you some green.

I'm running 255/40R19 Blizzak LM-32's on all four corners on my stock PP wheels.

Narrow tires are going to be better in deep snow and slush. I went with wider winter tires since I live in Delaware and only see snow about 3-4 times per year. The rest of my winter is just cold weather driving which I would rather have wider tires for better grip vs spinning narrow tires all the time.

For the time I had snow here last year, no problems at all.

So since winter is coming up for a lot of members, this is a question a lot of members may have.

Typically you want winter tires on all 4 corners, narrow is good to slice through the snow and reduce drag.

Blizzaks are my personal preference and recommendation but its understandable they are pricey.

You could go with a 255/40/19 all around if you want and have a few options

Pirelli winter sottozero
Yokohama Iceguard ig52c
Blizzak LM-32

If you want a 245/40/19 which is slighly lowere then the factory thats a possible route as well.

You have even more options

Michelin X-ice X13
Yokohama Iceguard ig52c
Blizzak LM-3 ( really good pricing right now)
Pirelli winter sottozero
