Hello All,
I am considering the purchase of a new mustang convertible. I currently have a miata and am use to the handling of this wonderful car.

As I think about this purchase, I would appreciate and thoughts you folks have on the Performance Package. I have no plans for any track time.

Would I notice significant difference in handling on regular street driving? If there is not that much difference in handling, I would likely skip this option.

Also, I really do not like the black wheels.

Any help would be appreciated.

The brakes are worth the package price alone. Get it.

Personally I think I am going to replace the shocks/springs/sway bars with a different setup altogether. And the PP wheels became my winter wheels.

Only other thing would be the stability control tweaks in the PP cars. Probably want that.

+1 on the brakes. I also wanted the 3.73 gears and supposedly, the PP comes with a bigger radiator which I liked the idea of. Especially in Texas where summer is HAAWT!!

I don't believe you can get the PP with the convertible.

IMO your average daily driver is not going to get that much value out of the upgraded brakes. If your tracking it, sure it makes sense. The standard brakes are totally adequate for ordinary driving though.

Just stating the value of the package. Whether it is a value to you is for you to decide.

The upgraded brakes can be leveraged regularly on the street. It is not a track only feature.

The rear gears was the biggest bonus to me. Plus it changes the dash finish and looks better with the two extra gauges instead of the big vents in the middle

There was 1 50th anniversary limited edition convertible made and it is the only convertible GT that will have the option of PP.

I specced it on mine as I liked the attitude of the package (bracing, cooling, bigger brakes --> my experience with standard brakes on US coupes are that they, well, not up to the task to say the least). Also it will be default on Euro-spec cars; as I am probably gonna take it back to Europe at some point I think it would make mine very unsellable or at least take a big hit on the residual value if it has the standard brakes.

I have to say seeing the package on a ruby-red this week I was convinced that the car really needs 19".

I just picked mine up, but the point about the gauges adds a cool factor, but their placement is odd.

For 2500 bucks on the GT? I struggled with this for a while myself but figured it would out brake/handle 95% of what is on the road anyway w/o PP. I figured wheels and tires were more important for a driving experience and $2500 should buy some I actually like and some high performance brake pads. 3.31 gear with the manual trans should be good for a daily driver.
