This post is funny to me. But, I am not too good to ask anyone for advice.

I picked up a new GTPP and will be taking it to the track tonight, 100% STOCK.

I am no stranger to making a car work at the drag strip, but I am not experienced with the newer cars and their nannies (electronics, safeguards etc) - with the MT82 / Manual trans applications.

So my question is, how are you guys running your cars in stock form?

I know these cars have ABS, Advancetrac and Clutch Protection features that can make them a nightmare - especially with the insane wheel hop.

I know all the other tricks.....but I am a "turn everything off and let me do the work" kinda guy - but does clutch protection kick in?

LMK your tips guys/gals! Thanks a ton!

I've never felt my clutch protection kick in, but my is not a PP. I just turn TC off, I turned Advancetrac off once before and it didn't make a difference in the wheel-hop. That was when my suspension was 100% factory.

I would recommend a "soft" i.e. 2,500-3K RPM launch on the PP tires, anything more than that seems to be a cause for snapped half-shafts.

Hopefully that helps Kelly, I still have a lot to learn with only 11 passes made in my lifetime.

So, turn the TC off and let it rip.

Thanks Ryan!

I am not sure about clutch protection, but by taking fuse 62 out you disable all the nannies.

Yes, I am aware of that.

I will try a few different ways.

Beware of the massive wheel hop on the 1-2 shift. See how the track is hooking but you may want to slightly lift and pedal the 1-2 shift to prevent hop.

If it's a premium put it in track mode...also turn TC off then hold the toggle to disable advancetrac.

Use the clutch protection to your advantage. I was cutting 1.9x 60fts by just putting the car to 2k and side stepping the clutch off the line and letting the car do the rest. Only thing I turned off was TC

Well....

The electronics and wheel hop are super frustrating. LOL

13.5
13.4
13.3
13.2....then the track closed.

I learned a lot. Much MUCH different than my auto car that's for damn sure! For those who have gone 12s in a 100% stock PP car I have some serious respect!

I know the feeling! I bet she wheel-hopped all the way through 1st and 2nd judging by the MPH. The 1-2 shift on stock suspension really makes the hop hit harder in 2nd.

What did you end up launching at?

Quick burnout to clean tires and make sure to stay out of water box. Launch at idle, shift into 2nd a little early like around 6400-6500 than shift into 3rd and 4th as high of rpm as you can with out hitting Rev limiter. Also take front tires up to 40 psi and rears down to 25 psi. Goodluck and have fun!:headbang:

my opinion, but I am not positive, as I have an A6.... b/c I wanted a quicker Stang from
the git GO.... and not have to replace clutch, have car feel loose after I rag on it.

anyway, I read DON'T put it is track mode, b/c it actually stiffens up suspension for
race track, not really drag strip.

so, Sport mode, if you have that?
AdvanceTrac all the way off
go around the water, and back down near it.
I let a stick roll back toward the water, then pop the clutch in 2nd on burnouts.
burn it for about 3-4 seconds at most, so you don't get the tires greasy.
Then, shallow stage, and pre-load the clutch as to not shock the drive train/tires.

If you can grab some 1.9 60fts.... you should click off some 12.9s. Good Luck.

There is no in-cabin adjustability of the suspension on any V6/EB/GT Mustangs. Drive mods just alter throttle response, soften the nannies, and for autos change shifting.

What daltron said. There is no adjustable suspension in the Mustang other than the GT350 with Magnaride.

In the PP car I did the best with a somewhat short burnout, Launch control/traction control on, set to 3500, slip the clutch a bit slowly letting it out. 26 psi in stock Pirellis. Somewhat easy shift 2nd, or it would blow the tires off again. Was able to manage a 1.92 60'
