This. Two feet in ( clutch and brake ), then put car in neutral and start.
Yeah yeah, you know what I mean... well if the park brake is good to go... no worries... or are you saying the mustang requires the clutch and brake?

No :) Just a habit of mine. Only need the clutch depressed to start.

I usually don't use the parking brake when parking, so I press the clutch and brake ( so I don't roll if on an incline ) pedals before starting.

The car will not turn over unless the clutch is depressed so it really does not make sense in putting it in second.... generally it is best to place in first since it is the lowest gear and less roll if your park brake was to fail but correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the mustang or most cars of Ford have the integral parking brake as in the inner section is much like a drum brake where the standard brake is the rotor/disc... there is a separate liner on the drum section, pretty much eliminates the warp..... at least it's on my f150 fx4 ...
I was told about second gear thing at 15yo so I'm just passing it on. I've heard of it happening several times over the years. And personally did it last year. I was borrowing someone's car. I leave my car in neutral because it has a turbo timer. Anyway, started the borrowed car and it jumped forward. Parking brake and my foot didn't hold it back. Admittedly I wasn't hold the brake down firmly, just medium. Luckily he parked it 10 ft behind his wife car in the driveway so I didn't hit her.

Yeah my R32 GTR has rotor/drum configuration. I've looked under the S550 and, it looked to me, parking brake cable goes to the caliper not a drum. It was a quick look, I could be wrong.

This might be if you don't use it very often. If you use it every time you park, the cable should last a very long time with zero issues. For most vehicles an occasional lubing is required. If it isn't ever used, the cable will corrode and become brittle.

I always use parking brake every where...driveway is on an incline but when my MT is in the garage,,,its in neutral though outside no brainer... 1st gear and park brake.... for the guy who is having a hard time pulling it out of gear sounds like you are on an incline and did not set your park brake properly "locking" into gear is common but if you start your car and use your brakes, let it roll back then you should be able to shift... a little more difficult to do with autos pulling it out of park though
