Does anyone else have issues with their parking brake cable shrinking in the cold and making the parking brake light come on when the handle is down? I have had this issue a couple times in the past during the winter, but this year it seems to happen almost every day. Once the car warms up, the cable stretches, the handle settles down a little lower and the light stays off, but before that, it JUUUUST barely comes off the switch when you hit bumps and/or don't put pressure on it, which throws the light on, cuts off the cruise control and annoys the shit out of me!

Any solutions to this issue? My initial thought is to maybe remove the whole switch and just splice the wires together so the light is always off because it is blatantly obvious when the brake is on, it's not needed. But if anyone has a better solution, I am all ears. This thing is pissing me off.

I have a similar problem. I just have to smack the parking handle down after i release it and it usually fixes it.

I had the same problem. The dealer replaced the whole parking brake assembly even though it probably just needed to be adjusted. You can see it if you jack the car up and look on the drivers side of the drive shaft.
