Completely showing my ass here. I’m a pretty confident and occasionally cocky DIY’r, but this parking brake assembly is just silly.

Installing GT350R calipers. Successfully removed the right rear assembly to get the caliper off, by loosening tension from the trans tunnel mechanism. Caliper reinstalled along with the parking cable. However, this retainer is getting me ready to jump off a bridge.

After looking at the design, I’m assuming it doesn’t NEED to be reinstalled. But I’m curious if there’s a trick to walk it back up to engage it against the bracket. I’ve used a number of small picks. No joy.

I’m all ears for any tricks.

I just did the M2300Y Big Brake kit install no my 21 GT. I left the adjuster loose and both cables just slid/snapped into place on the E brake lever and the into the bracket. I did leave the bolt out of the bracket that secures the cable to the knuckle until the cable end was in place on the lever and bracket. Then I secured the bracket on the knuckle with the bolt. Then tightened the adjuster up as detailed in the instructions. Hope that helps!

It's a giant pain, hell I struggle to get mine off. Still haven't yet actually, but the rears don't take the abuse the fronts do, so I'll be just let it go for now. I recall needing 3 hands from a small, small adult. And I don't have either of those.

I plan to just delete my parking brake once I actually need to get it apart. But that's the difference between a track car and street car.

Thanks for all the responses!

When I got to the left side, the retainer stayed installed, which led me to see that the retainer can be installed fully seated before dropping the cable into the bracket. I guess I just had to apply a little common sense.
