Painters Tape Front End?

Going to be taking the car on a small road trip (just a 3 hour drive) this week through the bug infested South Florida Everglades. I hear that putting on a layer of painters tape to the front end really helps with bug cleanup and protects from small rock chips. Does anyone have any experience with this/is it really worth it for such a relatively short drive?

I'd rather mask of the front and spray it with plasti dip Lol.. seems easier and faster, not sure if it would offer the same level of protection tho.. I'd think it would be comparable.

Just wax the front end and don't tailgate trucks or cars.

Elbow grease when home to clean bugs.

Some auto parts sell a temp clear bra to cover the front for long road trips... I used it about 4 years ago when I drove to N Carolina..

Guys do the temporary painters tape all the time out here for trips or tracks days. Its not for looks...

Once you're home...Seafoam Bug B Gone is the best bug cleaner I've found. I works twice as well as anything I've ever tried.

If you don't care about looks painters tape will help. Also the clear temp stuff is called road wrap. I use it on my cars all the time on long trips. Yes it's temp but I don't have rock chips on the front. Wax doesn't protect for rocks, maybe helps with bugs but not rocks. Painters tape is good if you have a grabber blue car also! I used painters tape before the road wrap. Some of these guys are just too lazy to pUT this stuff on, some don't care about rock chips. Lol

There was a guy at a show today with an S550 who had a fabric bra. It looked really simple and less obvious then some of the old ones and appeared like it could be taken off or put on very quickly. The material looked like some sort of thin stretch fabric. If I tracked my car more often or drove long distances I'd look into one like that.

I've used painters tape on many road trips. It takes a bit to tape up the front end but it's so worth it at the end of the trip.

To much work.

Let the chips fly and relic that car naturally. It's just a car. I don't like the chips and stuff either but I can't be bothered. My last car had a fair amount of them at 9 years old. I used touch up paint and buffed it out before I sold it. Looked pretty good from 5 feet away.

Yep, painters tape does work. I've used it on track days. People look at you weird, but who cares!

I would hate to have to pick all that tape off if it gets wet in a good old south Florida daily shower.
