I looked at your process and again poor material and process. You said you were astounded on how nice they look here is a picture I cropped of yours I mean you have a 40k car and you put covers on it that have tons of dirt in them along with paint lifting in the lines lettering and all over the cover. I too am astounded that someone would put them on like this. The stock grey covers look way better then something that is not done properly

Yes I own wicked dipz. To each there own if you want to do your covers its your car but please please dont give people false representation that they are even in the same ball park as a professionaly done set because they are nowhere near on the same level in fact anybody using this kind of material would have to pay even more to get there covers redone as they would have to be stripped before hand.

You are not a sponsor and cannot promote your product on this forum. Also you are doing a bang up job of making your company look good. It's always good to jump on the DIY guys and point out that a company who has been doing it professionally with commercial grade equipment is better. As if no one here knew that...

Yes mine have some issues. Several actually. I have a spot on the right side of the engine cover that frustrates me every time the sun hits it just right. But for $40 I'll take my 2 foot paint job all day long over your over-priced crap. If this was somewhere people could actually see up close I would pay a premium to make it perfect. But given the closest a person can get is about 2 feet with crappy light, I'm perfectly happy with my work.

Im not promoting anything I dont have to. I would think diy would be using correct material and giving it a go yourself. This thread is about using spray paint from autozone. I said if you or anybody wants to do that great but dont compare it to a professional job and there are plenty of professionals out there. You guys write these threads like it looks as good and some people actually believe it when people say just sand and buff be like a pro. You could not sand and buff that if you wanted to doesnt work that way. Now my stuff is overpriced crap when it looks better then the oem paint on a new car that makes alot of sense. Then you said that yours have lots of issues and that one frustrates you everytime but that you are happy that you paid $40 for what it looks like from 2 feet. The picture was from farther then 2 feet away. You have a Merry Christmas God Bless

Yup. It was from 2 feet away. Now if you can find that same spot down in my engine bay where that part sits under the cowl brace you can bash my work all you want.

You are getting quite worked up that people will do their own work instead of buy your parts. I can say whatever I want on the Internet and if anyone is dumb enough to believe a DIY truly looks as good as a professional then so be it. Don't come on here and bash someone else's work. Nit picking over minor details that 99% of people will never see on an installed product is beyond obnoxious and is doing the opposite for your business as you are thinking it does.

Merry Christmas.

First off I feel like you're taking this too personally. I could easily have spent $200+ on a set of painted covers, but I preferred to do it myself as a fun DIY project. Secondly, if I ever felt a single bit of regret with my job, which I don't, I could buy another set of cover for $100. The car is not affected in any way, shape or form as these covers pop off and on. I simply posted this to show my work. I love constructive criticism and welcome it when possible. You are simply doing this to promote yourself which is sad. .

Btw Infamous the covers look good! You should pull your sound tube next so you can actually see the drivers side valve cover.

It's a pain to get out of there but it's definitely worth it just to cleanup the engine bay.

you can order paint matched cans off the internet at different places but chevy orange color on the VHT engine enamel is REALLY close. Thinking about picking up a can, spraying it on something random right fast and seeing how close it really is.

Relax people he's not promoting anything. No one knew who he was until he was asked if that was him; so how could he be promoting anything? In fact it was others who have mentioned his work many times around here and he's never stepped forward to take credit or anything like that

It's constructive criticism, don't take it so personally. His point was it's not just slapping some Duplicolor/VHT/etc and clear on it and buffing it; consumer spray paints really aren't made to be sanded on and buffed to a mirror professional finish. It's using quality automotive grade paint and clear and that's why the cost is high.

If you dont want the good and the bad opinions then don't post pics of your mods; I dont get it.

Given that I was able to get a rather decent result using spray cans I would say it is in fact a decent alternative to paying 3x the cost of a plastic part just to have it painted. Even if I buy new ones before I sell the car I will still have saved money over his stuff. So it can be just slapping dupont on plastic. :D

The guy came in saying he can do it better. Ok. That's great for him. Doesn't make us any less relevant and doesn't mean we need to stop showing people what we did. He has some serious issues if he feels the need to defend his work because a couple people posted a DIY of something he does professionally. Lol

Constructive criticism I can deal with all day long and would welcome. What he did was nowhere near that and is in fact promoting his company products in a rather unnecessary way. Anyone looking to DIY isn't going to buy his stuff anyway.

And FYI the guy you are defending only jumped into this thread because he had a problem with someone's OPINION that what we did looked good and with a bit more effort they thought it would look as good as the professional ones.

A guy stated they would look like they were professionally done if they were sanded and buffed. I said no they wouldnt. You in your own words said your covers have tons of imperfections and that you werent happy with them then in the next few sentences said how happy you were with them. I have serious issues and need to defend my work come on Im not defending anything it speaks for itself. I posted that with the proper material being used that those results were possible. My customer base is not even going to apply here so Im not selling anything. Im stating that people who do want to diy it should be informed to use the proper material to do the job. Remember where I posted the products to use. I wont be responding to this thread anymore so you can say what you want because I know for a fact you will come up with some other bs on how Im promoting my business because Im clearly trying to sell you covers right
