They are for folks who know nothing about cars. You can fool them into thinking something special is going on. All of the car guys who wouldn't use them can spot them from 100' away. They scream "poser" at us.caliper covers
why not?
4" is fine!!! lol stern show referenceI wanna say 4" in length ....... Um let me state the decal is 4" in length.
I can see it being "Poser'ish" when doing the front calipers that make the brakes look bigger than what they are. However, the rear on our cars I can't see the issue. Covers up the ugly 1 piston caliper that should have been 4 piston on the PP to begin with.:shrug:They are for folks who know nothing about cars. Now some racers will tell you they trap heat like crazy and can cause brake fade, but that's only if you're stupid enough to think that they belong on a track car. Probably won't harm anything on a DD so they are showing up on lots of cars. To me they are about on par with the stick on chrome vents and port holes except they cost $200. :eye bulge:
No worries manHey Trevor, if you like it rock it! I'm just saying what goes thru the minds of more than a few people I've talked to. Heck on this thread you have seen guys who put Brembo decals on the 4 pot Ford calipers, that's bogus too, but it's their car. If they like it, well then that's it. Just don't expect folks in the know to get excited over it.
I forgot to mention you get lots of credit for taking the front calipers off and getting a PC job done.
I completely agree with you as being poser'ish by putting the covers on the front, or putting Brembo stickers on non-Brembo calipers. I just wish Ford would have put the 4 pot on the rear like the 350 for the PP. The single piston is just so ugly. I may try to do a conversion down the road though. We shall see.
