Painted 5.0 Emblems?

Has anyone taken their emblems off, painted them black (or whatever), and put them back on?
Mine are plastidipped, but I can see a few chrome spots on the inside edges and it really bugs me.

Haven't done it myself but I can't imagine it would be too hard. Heat up emblem, use fishing line to remove, clean adhesive with goo gone, paint emblem, apply 3m adhesive tape, reapply.

Alternatively you can buy an emblem already painted black like this one http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-fender-emblem-5-0-oe-stick-on-driver-side-black-2015-2016/p/EMF118L/ but at $60 rather do it myself.

I painted some ABS Supercharged emblems satin black & they look great. sanded with a 3M green pad, a few coats of self etching primer, then a few final coats. Worst part was getting them to stick to a piece of cardboard so I could tilt them around & get the edges. Tape won't stick to the strip covering the adhesive. Had to carefully scuff a few spots to make it work.

I just put in an order for the OE emblems, Black pony and the 5.0 emblems. No aftermarket emblems will hold up to the elements IMO.
