Hi everyone, I replaced the purge balve and I'm still getting this code. Anyone experienced this after doing a purge valve replacement getting a small leak code. I have a 2015 Mustang Gt.

Check to make sure that the sensor is installed securely. Also check to make sure the harness going to the sensor (the wiring and the connector pins) are not damaged.

Was the replacement part a Ford part or aftermarket part sourced from a general parts store or online source? If aftermarket there is the possibility it's an inferior part.

Have you tried resetting the DTC after the new part was installed? Yes obvious question but didn't see it mentioned in your initial post.

I installed that one i had installed another one prior that also didnt work. The DTC was cleared after each install. I noticed no matter how hard i pushed down the area that screws on had a slight gap. Since Ive changed it once before it came back on and now with this new one in the pic below and the light came back in again figured has to be something else.

Check for continuity at the harness connector and also check the same at the sensor pins where the harness plugs in.

I mean it's possible you're getting a bad part, but to get a bad new part 2x, it's either coincidental, bad quality part, or the problem is with the vac line, electrical connector or harness.

The other thing you can try too:
With the car running, spray some carb cleaner or EFI cleaner around the vac line connection to the sensor - if the car idle changes, there's a breach with the line (hairline cracks) or where it connects isn't sealing properly.

I am getting the P0455 and obviously our cars don't have a gas cap. I can't do any of the work myself so I am thinking of going to my dealer for a smoke test. It has come on about 7 times over the last 4 months. I just clear it with the ngauge but it is driving me crazy too.

I got one from Amazon, but it didn’t help much

I’ve change the filler neck, new purge solenoid valve, evap canister

what else do I need to do

I haven't been active here for a while, but funny enough I had this code pop up out of nowhere on Monday... on my 2014 gt500.

I've since reset it and kicked off the drive cycle... but car seems to be running strong. Obviously this is a headache for those that are trying to smog the car, but I'm curious what each of us ends up reaching as a resolution. Have all of you already give then gas door seal and gas filler flap a few pushes? There is also the evap vent solenoid, which can get clogged with a charcoal ball from the cannister, or a pinched line depending on exhaust routing (likely less of an issue on newer models)

Anyone used their ngauge to track any of the EVAP PIDs? I'd be curious to see what people see on the EVAP_VP PID at idle.

Check the rubber hose that goes into the evap canister under the rear of your car. If you've gone through all the other steps, worth checking this out just in case.

My P0456 DTC used to come on randomly every couple weeks. I just cleaned mine and re-seated the hose which cured my issue.

If you have replaced all the relevant parts and that has not fixed the issue, you either have gotten a bad replacement part, electrical issue, or still have the leak. Bad part may be a possibility if an aftermarket part was used. You need to check all the power and grounds to each part in the system. Also, a smoke test would indicate a problem. If you have a scan tool with live data, you can monitor the pressure in the fuel tank while the car is running and after the car is off. There are several videos on youtube explaining this procedure. South Main Auto has done a ton of these with EVAP systems.

I will give this a try on the way home. I will have idle, side street and highway if I know what I am doing.

there are two values I’ve been paying attention to since I recent my codes… EVAP_VP and EVAP Purge %

if you could tell me what a cold start idle number go that is and how much gas you had when you checked it, it would help determine if we either have the same or differing issues.

im going on a more ā€œstraightā€ friendly cruise today since my cruise yesterday was a canyon run. Hopefully whatever it is rears it head so I can knock it out and stop thinking about this crap until the next tshoot adventure.

Also if you could monitor evap VP value as you drive (look ahead of you first of course haha) that would give me a baseline to reference.

min kPa I am seeing a -7 value, until some time idling or being on the accelerator consistently and then it’ll hit 8 kPa and the purge will start opening to adjust pressure.

I am not really sure what I’m looking at here. The EVAP_CPDC and EVAP PCT fluctuates like crazy. Basically from 0% all the way up to 95% depending on how much I’m throttling it. Sometimes when I’m driving 60 miles an hour it’s sitting at 0%. I don’t know if that’s good or not. The VP is always looking like 65502 or so.
