:D

In other news, another oil change with Magnatec 5w20 at 11430 miles (last one was at 2800ish) and also swapped the diff and gearbox oil out for the BG stuff from the states.

Had a little drive about and there's definitely a difference there although not as marked as some on here have reported. That said, I am also running a Barton short shifter which is possibly negating more of an improvement than it would with the standard shifter.

Where are you getting your oil filter, may I ask? I'm finding it hard tracking down Motorcraft Oil Filter FL 820S from reputable sources

My local Ford dealer, but then I'm using a different one.

8055 or something like that. It's the only one listed on their system.
Thanks - I'll investigate with my dealer

Did this a couple of weeks ago but hadn't sorted the pics.

Totally heatproofed the intake with heat-reflective tape and sheeting.

Did the outside of the box & total coverage of the tube itself in an attempt to reduce the intake temps.

Having taken onboard Gibbo205's comments about the tape peeling away, I spent 30/40mins rubbing the bits down in order to reduce the textured finish and get better adhesion.

Seems to have had little to no effect and if anything, has actually increased it by a degree intermittently although the components themselves are cooler to the touch! :frusty:

I removed it all as in my latest pictures the gold reflective tape is only on the maf tube. :)

Never did before and after, but can't see it does much.

Yesterday at the strip the queue's to run were slow moving and taking upto 30-40 minutes, essentially a traffic jam and ambient was around 14-16c and IAT was around 24-28c, a vast improvement. Before sitting still would of seen IAT's above 60c, that improvement comes from cutting holes and not shiny tape. :)

Yeah, gonna get that 350 tube at the very least, if not the BigMouth as well.
Would be very interesting to see if you fit one or both, and if you ever get to re dyno your car, what the results would be and see if you loose anything as others suggest you will with these sort of additions.

Make sure dyno runs are with hood down to test such things.

Having had some teething troubles with the first carbon dip, due apparently, to a bad batch of adhesive:

They re-did it, and now it looks like I imagined it would:

Obviously it didn't look like that when I picked it up! :D

That was after 3K miles round europe, although it was showing signs of bubbling after just over an hour on the motorway to Ford Fair.

I've had the centre console and window switch surrounds done as well so couldn't tell you the cost of one piece.

I paid barely more for all my items to be dipped than that single slam panel would cost if it were real CF though.

Funnily enough I got chatting yesterday to a guy that lives in my road that works for a company that make carbon bits for F1 teams. Group buy on bonnets and bootlids, anyone? :D
