As promised, the contents of my oil filter:

Yes that's a dinner plate, no there were no huge lumps of anything found in it and no, my missus didn't bat an eyelid when she walked in from work to find me mutilating an oil filter in the kitchen on a plate. :lol:

No wheels, spacers have no impact on geometry, yes sometimes can but talking minor and anyway local garage knows me so to check is free and adjustment little money as so easy to adjust on these cars.

That looks much smaller than a normal Ford oil filter. Is it just the perspective of the picture?

That looks far easier than all of the other catch can videos I'd seen. How much was it?

They are all as easy as that. Some are routed a bit further away but the idea is still the same. It's 2 hoses. What could possibly go wrong?

Lol I'd seen some where it was like 2 hoses but you had to go in different routes etc. This was for the ecoboost, not sure if it's different I won't even pretend to be knowledgeable under the hood because I'm clueless lol

As for the oil change....I shall be cutting open the filter a bit later to show us all what was caught in the first 2500 miles of driving.

Luckily the filter was hand tight otherwise I would've struggled getting any kind of tool in that little space to remove it, but it was certainly an easy enough job overall. Especially when you consider I bought the oil and filter for £75 & Gowrings wanted £250 to do the job! :lol:

Did you siphon the oil out or undo the sump drain?

You can fit it the wrong way round!

I had to double check as there were no instructions & no obvious markings on the thing itself, so if you look at the video you'll see one of the pipes looks to be a single piece of tubing and the other (not that clear on the vid) is made up of a series of metal fittings.

I don't know if that would actually make a difference to it's operation or if it's just to help it sit where it does, but either way I installed mine the same way round.
