The more I watch the video the more inclined I am to swing from my original 50/50 vote to it being 80% the shitbox drivers fault... with the motorcyclist now being complicit!

Thankfully the Mustang looks like it 'was' an Ecobubble (isn't that also a washing machine), as had it been a GT it would have been going much faster and the consequences much worse !

I hope some of you guys are joking about the biker. He plays absolutely no part in this equation. The driver of a turning car is not absolved one iota even if someone waves him on. He still has the greater duty to proceed only when traffic is clear.

Sorry...most of the liability (greater than 50%) rests with the silver car, but the Mustang driver owns a significant portion of fault as well.

I agree....happens here on the left side of the pond too. But that concept doesn't override common sense road and driving safety rules regardless of continent.

The only thing that one should assume when driving is that someone else is going to do something really stupid. Many accidents for the most part are avoided not by evasive maneuvers but by anticipating that there might be one and anticipating accordingly.

on here and on the MOCOGB and SMUK there are so many different opinions, it's rather worrying
I still feel that the Stang is mostly at fault
The Biker stopped allowing the car to start to turn, and suddenly the Stang who can't see a moving car into his lane, slams right into him
I mean the bike was stopped, so the car just sits there?
One thing we don't know is what the Stang was doing before the crash, if you watch from the start the 1st set of lights with the bike beside the Stang, then the bike roars off, did the Stang see the bike stopped and decide to speed up to overtake the Bike?
was the Stang chasing the bike?

I think there was quite a time between the two sets of lights as you can see the video was clipped.
I think we all agree that the Mustang driver was driving like a nob. but fault in the law is sometimes a different beast. The speed IS hard to prove so then you are just left with a car pulling across in front of another car!
I guess we will never know how this goes but I would love to know.

The Mustang can't see a car, that was stationary one second and then suddenly starts to move INTO HIS LANE the next, versus the shitbox unable to see the Mustang, already established on his own side of the road, not deviating from what he was doing 1/3/10 seconds ago, yet that's the Mustang's fault for not pre-empting an idiot pulling out in front of him?

If it means not having an accident OF COURSE IT BLOODY DOES!

The number one, overriding factor, above ALL else when driving, is DON'T CRASH!! You are literally saying it's ok to have an accident if the other car was going too fast.

Again, take a second to think about it. Shitbox is waiting to cross TWO lanes of oncoming traffic, they see the bike practically stop (Dr Grabster has already covered how stupid THAT was), and instead of taking an extra second or two to check for any other approaching traffic, blindly pulls across anyway.

As I said, they either misjudged the speed of the Mustang which means they didn't take a good enough look in the first place, or they didn't see it at all. Neither of those scenarios is a lesser evil than the Mustang's perceived excessive speed.

How are either of those options less dangerous than the Mustang maintaining his speed and course along an unbroken lane?

As Tom pointed out, the shitbox has had to cross what is essentially a centre line dividing the two carriageways in order to cause this collision. The Mustang did nothing.

The Mustang's speed is largely irrelevant because the shitbox has proven they either misjudged his speed or didn't see him at all. That means had the Mustang been going slower, the shitbox would still have misjudged his speed or not seen him at all. Result? Collision would still have occured but with slightly less damage.

It's downright scary, albeit not unexpected, that almost 20% of people think this is 100% the Mustang's fault. :lol:

It's impossible to prove the Mustang's speed and the limit is at least 40 as there is a 30 sign for the turn-off. Turning across oncoming traffic gets you a due care and attention conviction (especially with a copper already on site). The 'shitbox' driver is driving on learned behaviour at that junction probably and may not have clocked that the lights were out. Other traffic (bike) stops; he goes. It's either the biker, the shit box or [MENTION=20131]Manders Mustang[/MENTION] at fault (just a hunch) but definitely not the Mustang. The fact that he could driven more defensively doesn't hand him the blame.
