Oversized alternator pulley?

My car is back at the dealership for charging system issues. They replaced the alternator a few weeks ago. The service writer mentioned that they have an oversized alternator pulley accessory that would slow the alternator down to ease the load on it at high rpms. Has anybody heard of doing this or done it?

No, I wouldn't recommend that on a car with a smart charging system and digitally controlled regulator output on the alternator.
