Ordering weirdness!

So I ordered on 3/11... got a VIN on 3/13... tonight the EDD was updated to 4/16! COTUS shows 30 days until delivery!

Now I know it'll probably change but sheesh. I do not have a build week scheduled.

If it happens that will be 36 days from order to delivery. Perhaps a record.

Are you sure you don't have a build week? My understanding was that once you have a VIN, you should have a build week. And now that you have an EDD you should have a build date. If so I'd guess you're probably in the 3/30 build week.

Well not as of this morning when I asked Ford Service (Deysha) over on TMS.

This update just came in tonight. So maybe the elves were hard at work after 6:00.

Could be. But either way, if it's accurate, damn you are getting your ride fast. I haven't even had any delays yet (like the 2/2 week folks) and if I get mine on time it'll be 2 months from order to delivery.

Really? How long was it between when you submitted your order and when you had a build week?

I originally placed my order back in June 2014. Around the beginning of November I had no updates so I complained to the GM. They forwarded the complaint to the district manager and they placed a brand new order again as priority 01 on November 21st. The car arrived on December 17th, which makes it 27 days exact. Not sure if that is the record.

I believe in June 2014 dealers did not have allocations for retail sales. They sold you their dealer stock order which was a bad move on their part. Initial production stock orders always have the possibility of being delayed (or even scrapped) due to production ramp-up issues. There's a reason Ford waits to allow the order banks to open for retail sales - it's not just availability.

I believe you are 100% correct, my dealer DID originally order as Stock. However they had 4-5 cars ordered prior which took up their allocation, and they somehow neglected to tell me. I was originally promised late August early September delivery.

I just got my EDD today so does this mean I should have an actual build day now too? Would this be something I would ask FordService for?

As I recall it was about a month. Ordered on 1/2/15. Build week assigned was 2/23. Car was built on 2/27. EDD just changed to 3/22 this morning!
