When a dealer puts an order in on a Bullitt, how long before they get a VIN?
Could be never if they don't have the allocation!

We (well at least me) have not seen the allocation schedule.

With the GT350 program dealers were advised of their build quarter ie: 2 GT350s one in the 2nd quarter and on in the 4th. Lots of small dealers getting just 1 were given 4th quarter builds. Dealers could put orders in on day 1 but that didnt matter as their order just sits until the allocation is selected for build.

The question now is over what time period has Ford spread these allocations for build. And you had better believe there is a pecking order as to what dealerships Ford builds for first.

It is also not known if Ford will ship out as built or build up a supply of 500+ cars and then start shipping them out. In 01 and 08 they built a substantial number and then shipped- not the entire run but a decent number before shipping so that the cars arrived around the country and appeared on dealer lots relatively close in time.

What they do this time-no one knows yet.

So I am new to the forums and I am trying to order a Bullitt mustang Trying to go through the dealership my in-laws work at first but also possibly looking for dealerships near me. I hope they don't make this thing so rare people cant get it. I have been waiting for this mustang for a looooooong time im gonna be pretty ticked off if it isn't possible.

Unfortunately, there will be people who want a Bullitt, but won't get one. Every indication is that it will be a limited edition car and not every dealer will get allocation, especially the smaller guys. As with most limited editions, many dealers will be tacking on a price markup (ADM) that could be anywhere between 3K and 20K. Even if you find a dealer who will accept your order, it doesn't mean you'll get a car. Your best bet is to visit multiple dealers in your area, especially larger ones, but be prepared to find they already have a waiting list.

Ford's strategy does make me scratch my head in confusion. I've always wanted a Bullitt as well. I get Ford is not wanting to get screwed with the Bullitt and are trying to keep interest very high, but even at MSRP, that's a huge price to pay, more than I ever would have paid for a mustang. Still, had it been that price and guaranteed to have my order filled, I probably would have done the deal.

Making it artificially so rare and opening to door to dealer screw jobs and ADM; however, put me in the position of having to kiss that dream goodbye. No way I'm paying so much for a GT premium with essentially the Bullitt option pack that gets an ADM tacked on top of it.

I wound up taking a leftover 2017 that I got for a really great price. It's not a bullitt, but it's a sharp looking car that I like and I guess I can do some great mods with the money I saved.

Everything we have heard points to that fact.

Even if Ford decided to make the car XPlan eligible it is still up to the dealer to decide to sell it under XPlan—- in light of current allocation limitations I would see that prety much as an impossibility. Sorry. Ford dealers Do Not have to accept XPlan.

Right now goal #1 should be finding a dealer with an available allocation that they will lock in for you.

#2 should be getting the dealer to sell at msrp.

#3 below msrp- never say never but right now that is dreamland material. Again, that is right now. If they go the second yr and it is competing against the GT350 and GT500 ease of allocation, discounts may become a whole other ballgame in 2020my.

I talked to Carl Widmann (chief engineer) again yesterday in DC and he confirmed there will be a 2020 model.

Good to know I really want to get one but don't know if I will get it this year if it is as limited as some people say. If so that just lets me save up more for a serious down payment for model 2020. Plus the focus will start to be on the gt500 vs the bullitt. That being said I do want this specific car. I almost went the guard green route or repaint a car until I heard about this. Thoughts?

If you're not in a hurry, you're almost certain to get a better deal next year. Me, I don't have the patience, too excited. :D

Truer words have never been spoken. If you are patient on this, getting one will not be a problem.

I understand. That's why I'm so antsy to get mine. It's the ultimate Mustang to me and I plan to keep mine forever too.
