Ordered a GT Premium auto today on X-plan. Got the 3.55 gears I wanted.

Ford manager said that there "was no 66W spare tire" option when ordering the car.

Also said there "was no 68B Premium Trim option" on the basic ebony leather interior.

Is this true and/or how do I go about convincing a dealership manager that these options exist to update my order placed earlier today?

Spare tire is not such a big deal as you can buy one from any tire shop with a scissor jack for about the same $175.

First, I liked the white sticking but what else does the 68B option give exactly on the premium? There is some hot debate on the premium what it exactly offers other than the darker aluminum colored dash and the stitching color. And second, is the manager right because it sounded weird to me.

Obviously these are 2 very small options (and the spare can be remedied really) and I'm taking the car regardless. Just wanted to find out because I'm sure I can still update my order submitted 12 hours ago. I'm sure it won't even start to build for a few weeks.

Of course, I said how did I get the option code if it wasn't there. The response was that the builder site on Ford was not always accurate (Which true it hasn't been for this car always, but still). This is one of the dealership managers in a big dealership; you would think these people know the car options (as it's been announced for a while) better than their customer and there were 5 other people today looking at Mustangs.

Again, the spare tire/doughnut not such a huge deal I can get one from any tire shop for basically the same price.

The premium trim not so much, but I m not sure if that's even worth the fight to get added, it seems ambiguous that no one quite knows what it really gives other than a darker aluminum color on the dash and the white stitching (on black leather).

He's wrong about not being able to add premiere trim. You can get it. My Ruby Red Premium GT is in transit to me right now with 68B ebony interior. It's worth it for the soft touch material it adds to the top of the interior doors alone if you ask me. Otherwise you get hard plastic. Unless that suddenly changed without my knowledge.

Not sure on the whole spare thing though. I know you can't add it to Performance Pack cars (mine) but not sure how it works on non PP cars.

It doesn't sound like they are coding something correctly, 68B uses it's own trim color codes 51 vs 41 for Ebony. I don't know how dumb the system is if automatically assigns the correct code for the the package. I assume that if they enter your trim color as 51 you automatically get the 68B package added. Spare tire should be non issue as well. Available on any car except PP and 20" wheels.

Are you sure they don't mean there is constraints on parts and that is why they can't order a car that way?

I guess that's the question, i didn't get the performance pack (auto) so does that knock out the possibility of getting 68B (seats coded as 51) just on a regular premium GT? Even the order guide you attached doesnt really say how/on what packages you get the premier accent trim. He didn't say it doens't exist, but was only with a more expensive seat upgrade package (which didnt sound right after reading here). Does the premium trim package cost more? I don't see any indication anywhere it does.

I dont anything anyone is 100% clear on the ordering/options it sounds like reading stuff on the net as it is all very vague, so I can't blame the dealership. I also got the car under invoice and the salesman is a friend of the family so going elsewhere really isnt an option.

It's pretty clear, the ordering guide is really clear. Unless you ordered the 50th Appearance package (which includes premier trim-soft touch) it is available. Again, I haven't seen anyone get a spare tire, so it may be getting kicked out. There have been constraints on certain parts which is what your dealership is saying.

I attached the entire order guide, it's not real complicated. I think you need to ask better questions. Is it a parts constraint or a coding issue.

Ask your dealer if they are ordering in the WBDO system. If so, they simply need to click on the interior trim box of your order (not the options box), and select the premium ebony leather instead of the ebony leather. That will automatically assign the right codes. Ford recently rolled out a new ordering system that did away with the three digit option codes.

Some dealers still use the old CONCEPS ordering system and that relies on the three digit order codes.

Thanks. I already called this morning and said tell your manager to code it as 51 ebony seats instead of 41 as it was coded. I dont know why Ford makes you choose 41 vs 51 on a premium GT anyway...

I assume that they are using the old system as the printout (vehicle report) I got has the 3 digit codes, so I think my instruction to code the seats as 51 instead of 41 will work (hopefully). My seats were definitely coded as 41 in my order which you could not add the 68B to.

Because their are nine different possibilities of trim type/color available just on the GT Premium. My dealership uses an inventory manager, his job is to know how to build cars in Fords system. It's unfortunate that you needed to put the effort in to get your ordered car ordered correctly.

I just ordered a GT premium "auto" with a spare tire and the premium interior package (68B) in ebony. Order went in and I recevied a vin # 2 days later. I know it's an option.

I believe it. Im not budging on the 68B now. I know he coded it wrong at 41 seats instead of 51 which they should have been to add 68B.

The spare tire/doughnut I can budge on because I can always buy one later honestly.

I opted for no spare tire but had I wanted one I would want it from the factory in order to get the clamps and tie down installed properly.

Dealership investigated and said can only get the 68B with the 401A trimline. There is no other way to input 68B without upgrading to the 401A. Maybe that is why- mine is a 400A premium GT. I don't know the true answers, could be a part constraint as per below.

At the end of the day it is not much different and no one can even explain completely what is different except perforated/better quality leather on the upper door insert and dash.

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/show...date-5919.html Looks like the part needed for 68B is constrained too if I am reading it correctly- "Soft Rollover & I/P Stitch." Could be part of the cannot get with a 400A right now (or maybe at all unless you want to wait for your build).

Looks like its been since early October too http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/show...g-10-4428.html

Perhaps there really is a block-out of ordering 68B right now? Not going to wait months extra to get perforated leather inserts on the door and some contrast stitching on the dash. Not worth it.
