What gets me - their capacity (I believe) is 800 cars per shift. They are currently building at most 35 RHD a day. Damn you Ford, damn you to hell!
800 per shift! they could do the whole of this years UK allocation in just 2 shifts? they should just get 'em done and out of the way.

There will be a reason - good or bad - why they're assembling vehicles at the current rate, whatever it actually is. Churning out 1200 vehicles for a single market then having to transport them all to the same port, get them onto boats, offloaded in mainland Europe, undercoated, back onto boats, into the UK, on to dealers, etc would be a logistical impossibility.

That, and they're probably protecting their core customer at the same time. The US market.

I think it's 800 per day on 2 shifts, but the Mustang also shares the line with the Fusion if I remember correctly - so it's 800 cars per day, but not all are Mustangs. I think (US sales) the fusion sells around 25,000 per month and the Mustang 7,000. So assuming production is proportionate that's around 600 Fusions per day and 200 Mustangs - but as I'm no expert on car production strategy, my guess work might be total rubbish :D

I would prefer slow and steady at 35 cars a shift instead of fast and fuck ups!!

Let's just pretend they've picked the best team of most conscientious workers they have, who are meticulously assembling the RHD models slowly and to a state of perfection never before seen on a Ford production line. And when they have mastered perfection; then they can make some convertibles.

I tweeted them as well, just for the hell of it.

I've asked my dealer twice in person and I still know nothing.

I ordered my car on the 28th of May. Granted that's a bit late, I probably wont get it until Q1 2016, but I'd like to know SOMETHING.

  • Has my order actually been submitted? I have no idea if I will even get a car and I've already paid them money.
  • Does it have a build date?
  • Did I get lucky and I'm on the Q4 2015 delivery run?
  • What comes on our cars as standard?
  • When does your demonstrator arrive?

Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe it now. :tsk:

That was fast. But as Kristian87 said, it could just be automated nonsense that'll get me nowhere.

I'm half tempted to email Ford NA instead, since they're in charge of the factory.

Update:

False hope reigns supreme.

If it's the same response as mine, they will just get in touch with your dealer & ask them to call you. They will say they have no updates but if you specifically ask your dealer if your order is on the system, they should be able to tell you something. That's what I did & I got my order number - has no bearing on timescales but for me, I was happy to finally have concrete proof that my order is on their system and awaiting a build date. I don't think anyone can predict deliveries, even at this point but from the info I have I believe I will be lucky to have mine by Christmas. So may factors could mean deliveries are pushed back/brought forward. Cars could get stuck at Southampton for weeks knowing our luck! Sure someone said you can personally pick the car up from the port if you have papers?! If true, that'll be me :)

Got another reply from Flat Rock after telling them I have an order number but no VIN;

"Hi Kristian,
I’ve been told that if you don’t have a VIN number yet for the car, then it hasn’t been scheduled to be built. I know you might think, “Well if I’m 87th how is it not schedule yet?” but please remember that we are now building RHD Mustangs for countries around the world. I’m so sorry, I’m not able to track your car’s scheduled build date without the VIN. I’m not sure how a VIN number is created or how long that process takes, but I believe your car will receive one in order to be scheduled for build. Keep checking with your dealer. Once your dealer receives that information please email back and I will do what I can to track it for you. I’m so sorry I can’t provide more information. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help."

I emailed the girl back to thank her, it's more information than I have had to date so it was nice to get something back. But obviously no point in emailing until you get a VIN...

The average ford gets a vin between 10-14 days before build.. Can be three weeks before. I have a mustang customer that got a vin in late July that is being built next Monday and yet mine is due Tuesday and had no vin Monday.. Haven't checked since but as you due October mate don't hold your breath till late September for that. It is good to hear the plant actually gave a good reply unlike the usual ford PC bull s***!

More twitter fun.

Contacted my dealership twice and no answer. Hopefully that just means Pierre isn't at work today.

GOOD NEWS!

Just got off the phone with my dealer at Benfield Sunderland.

I have some nice information on the car's now and I will be making a new thread for it in the general section so it can reach the most people.

I'm just waiting for the email from my dealer to roll on in.

I was gonna post something about a wine in the gbox and a dodgy catalyst but then thought it could be 'bad taste' so

Hows the cat? Hope its okay.
