I know oil as a topic has been beat to death. I got a fresh oil change from Ford when I recently purchased my GT350R, and I've already purchased a spare oil change kit for when I'll do it in the future (in about a year). I will be going with Mobil 5w-50 Supercar. From my research, GM went with a really high ZDDP additive package but low detergent levels. I think this fits my usage case of not driving often, but when I do, I get it to temp and tend to drive it "purposefully." I also like the price at Rockauto.com (under $7 per quart).
Anyway, I'm a mechanical engineer and can't help but research this topic more... I just noticed that Lucas 5w-50 actually puts the GT350 on their bottle! Anyone using the Lucas 5w-50?

If anyone is curious, here's a UA from the Mobil 1 5w-50 supercar... Found here

I've decided to run Motocraft FS 5-50W March thru October , here in the Arizona Desert mainly for the over 90 to 105 degree heat . Anything over 105 I rearly pull the Mach out . Also not a Daily driver, fall and winter months I'll return back to Mc FS 5-30W .

Only thing I will say. The Blackstone analysis is all but useless. Use anyone else. As far as oil is concerned. Use what your engine likes. Turns out mine really liked Castrol, and loved eating Motorcraft. The shear values were terrible on the motorcraft in my car, and it would start consuming oil after about 500 miles (back when it was a road car too). The Castrol never was consumed.

By way of example. I could see particles in my oil and knew the bearings were letting go. Sent a sample just to see what they would said. "Engine looks great, keep doing what you are doing". I asked why they didn't comment on the particles in the oil, which are visible with the naked eye. "Oh we don't measure particles that big". Well I am no idiot, but I understand standard deviation, and know I should see higher levels of small particles too. But no. None. Engine was perfect according to them.

Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now.

In the decade I've owned my 2016 GT350 I've run Motorcraft, Mobil 1 FS and Mobil 1 Supercar 5w50 oils. I have UOA reports covering all three oils. The car has done 50 track days and I'm still on the original engine.

Based on viscosity and wear metals levels, you literally can't tell the three oils apart. Viscosity at 100C varies less than 1 CST across the three oils. V40 varies less than 3 CST. Viscosity Index is within 4 from highest to lowest. Wear metals are less than 3ppm except for iron which ranges between 4 and 11 ppm. Oil consumption is about 1 quart in 2000 miles and it's been stable there since new. Even the additive packages are remarkably similar.

So, my experience with my Voodoo's engine oil is that I can just use the one that's easiest to get and the most cost effective. I wouldn't expect any different results with Lucas or Amsoil, by the way. The days of one brand of oil being better than another are behind us as far as I can tell.

'Nuf said! That's good enough for me! Makes me feel good about saving money on Mobil 1 Supercar.
