Oil over fill question.

I prefill my filters by pouring oil in the little holes. Whatever you pour in the center bypasses the filter.

If you are using clean new oil, what would be a downside of using the center hole?

Not mustang related, but back in the 90s, a lot of cummins warranty claims were denied due to people prefilling filters in a hurry and not noticing a piece of the Aluminum foil getting in it. It ended up having catastrophic results blocking piston oil passages or something.

Yes, it was a long time ago, yes, I actually watch what I pour in the filter. No you do not need to prefill, as indicated previously, you can just clear flood and prime the filter. It can get messy prefilling sometimes depending of the angle of the filter. At the end of the day, I've been doing it for peace if mind for about 40 years, others never do it.
