Does anyone know what normally causes mustangs to leak oil? Is it certain mods or anything of that sort, or just manufacture failure? I’m trying to avoid this fate, I know catch cans help obviously. With that being said, is there any other knowledge out there on the subject?

I'm confused by your questions. It's as if you believe different engines leak oil for different reasons. All engines leak oil when seals and gaskets age and stop working.

Catch cans do nothing to stop oil leaks, that's not what they're for.

Do you mean "burn" or "consume" oil? And what do you mean by "build-up"??

Sorry, I’m just down the rabbit hole of oil leaks. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about oil leaks from under the car near belly pan. Others have it on the transmission/engine and some are finding build up in their head gaskets/spark plugs. I just brought my car about a month ago so I’m not as knowledged in this. Everyone says catch cans help with filtering the oil into the engine. I’m taking about excessive oil not normal oil drips/leaks.

You're still confused.

There are no "normal" oil drips or leaks. No, no one complains about oil leaks here, as most people here have cars that aren't that old, so they don't leak oil.

Catch cans do not "...help with filtering the oil into the engine", they STOP oil entering into the engine intake system.

Now......help us to help you. What is your specific question?

Known oil leaks:

Loose oil sensors across all platforms, but it’s not something that affects every single Mustang.

Some early Coyote 5.0’s had some minor issues with the valve covers. There is a Ford TSB about that, where additional bolts where added and if the car is still under warranty it will be fixed. Again, it doesn’t affect all Mustangs.
