anyone else notice that they get 2 different readings on the oil dip stick from one side to the other?
I recently checked and get the lower dot on one side and 1/2 way between lower and upper dot on the other side. I tried it a few times and it was consistent . My Outback is the same and the subi community decided it s the higher side. Thanks.

PS/ yes its level.

This is what i did, bulletproof reading... Do an oil change, full 10 quarts.. Then pull stick & see FULL and then try and make a nice metal mark w exacto razor or knife, or sandpaper mark on the stick on both sides where FULL is on it.. anything to get a mark made in metal. After that you will always know its FULL, regardless of fords quacky dipshit dipstick!!! lol
Hope this helps!!

Ok yes and all cars do that, so here is a question, what difference does this really make?
It is much to do about nothing, would you not say?
So I'll make fun of it........

My F150 was bad for this, it would read high, I could wipe it off and push it in 180 degrees out and then it read lower. Parked in my perfectly level garage, and having not ran in 2 weeks my Mustang is a little closer, I just read it the same each time and go with it. 10 quarts plus a bottle of Ceratec and then make a note where it reads (it always reads at the top of the hash marks the way I keep the dipstick oriented), mine hasn't dropped hardly at all in 5k miles from there in the 2 changes I have done.

I’d just be happy if I could get the thing out cleanly around the strut tower brace to get a good reading. Always seems to take 2-3 tires. And no, I’m not physically or mentally challenged. It’s just a really weird angle and always seems to take a couple attempts to get it out without smearing the end of the dipstick…..

…..or perhaps it’s just the dipstick checking the dipstick. 🤷‍♂️

I‘m going with the “or perhaps” statement

If I check mine after it sat for a couple days I can get a pretty clean read on both sides but it also depends on how (direction) the dipstick is inserted 🤷🏻‍♂️

You gotta grip and twist your stick just right to get it out. I have the tower brace too, and what I found that works for me is to pull it out and towards the front of the car. Once the stick is almost out, then you slow your tug to avoid touching the inside of the hole and messing up your reading.

Or just tweak the dipstick tube so it clears .
