11/11/17, oil and filter change at 5388 miles.

12/11/17, installed passenger side Ford Performance catch can at 5545 miles. Oil still at top mark on dip stick.

01/03/18, 5706 miles, checked catch can and oil level. Oil level still at top mark on dip stick. Thin layer of oil in catch can.

Consumption has stopped. She was consuming 1 quart about every 750 miles. Zero oil consumed in 318 miles. In theory the level should be halfway down the hash marks. Still dead even with the top hole.
Thin layer of oil in catch can after 161 miles.

Do you think the factory vacuum was too strong pulling fluids into the intake where the catch can reduced and slowed it down somehow?

Not sure. The catch can has only been on for 161 miles. I think after another 500 I’ll have a better idea.

My guess is your data may be a bit skewed with limited level checks, it is probably more consistent than you indicated. Run another 3000 - 4000 miles with frequent checks, then report back.

Definitely a small sampling since the catch can install. Numbers were pretty consistent on the 1 quart every 750 miles prior to can install and more specifically the last oil change. I was checking the level every 300 miles or so. The consumption had decreased prior to the oil change enough for me to say it has stopped. 500 miles prior to the oil change I added a quart because the level was at the bottom hole on the dip stick. I checked the level prior to draining the oil and it was still full. That’s about 800 miles with no loss. Time will tell.

Checked the catch can today and the oil level at 6,200 miles. 782 miles since oil change. Oil is halfway down the hash marks. Right at 625 miles since catch can install. Removed 14.5 mL of fluid from the catch can today. So, normally at this point I would have needed to add 1 quart of oil. I'm sticking with the consumption has slowed.

I've been driving her aggressively the last few hundred miles. Not driving like paw-paw on a Sunday drive.

My car has 32k km and for the past 2k has stopped consuming oil.
Before this it would «*drink*» 1 quart per 1000-1500 miles - not crazy but sill significant.
The only thing that was done to it was an oil change (same oil as before) at 30k.
It might be the lower temperature, me driving slightly less agressively (no traction at all nowadays ) or an oil filter that was torqued properly this time (although have never seen signs of oil on the filter before.
Not complaining the car has stopped burning oil but it’s just a sudden change... will continue to monitor as it’s too soon to draw any conclusion on such a short timeframe though

Mine cannot be blamed on the oil filter. No signs of oil when I changed the oil myself. I was under the car last week doing the tow hook and had the whole front end off. Checked the oil filter and no oil around it and my sharpie marks were still in line.

So we have a case of the catch can stopping oil consumption and one(steeda?) of it causing it?

I am not contributing the slowing to the catch can but since the timing of the install and slower rate of consumption since, I cannot discount it either.

I'm wondering if you're passing 5K has to do with it also. I've noticed a trend with owners passing 5K and their consumption seeming to go down around the same time.

Could be. Just glad it has slowed for no other reason than I have never had a car consume oil like this one but again, I have never had a car with an engine like this one.

I dont know how but I am in the complete opposite spectrum where the UPR catch can doubles if not triples my oil consumption and I have verified this over 5000-6000 miles by installing it/uninstalling it/changing my oil/changing my driving hanits several times with always getting the same result. My car always consumes 1 qt per 1000 miles.
